I worked at Harb Levy & Weiland full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Beautiful work environment, totally professional, pays appropriately for the responsibilities.

    Cons

If you do not participate in their "social" efforts, you won't fit in and will feel the pressure.

  2. "Excellent company to work for, great people, great pay and great benefits"

I worked at Harb Levy & Weiland full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Location of the offices are outstanding, views of SF Bay. Established and thriving CPA firm. Everyone was very professional. Salary and benefits for Administrative staff are generous, but you are expected to be a pro! Everyone is very professional, but friendly. It is a relatively quiet environment, even with 100+ people working there...after all, it's all about number crunching. The company creates social events to compensate for the lack of socializing opportunities at work.

    Cons

If you don't participate in the social events, you won't fit in.

    Pros

There is a lot of flexibility withthe work life balance. Though they aren't the greatest with part-time, they are pretty good with being flexible on your day to day hours, no requirement to be in the door at 8:30, you can manage a life where you have to drop kids off at school, etc. Pay always seemed to be above the other firms.

    Cons

Low turnover means it may take longer to reach a higher position in some cases.

    Advice to Management

Offering firm data more often to the staff would be helpful - we'd like to know the state of the firm.

I worked at Harb Levy & Weiland full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Flexible atmosphere, interesting people. Room for advancement if you work for it, but you do need to work for it. Promotions are not that casual,

    Cons

Bottlenecks on the career path at times, turnover stays pretty low, so promotions may not come with the associated responsibilities.
