I worked at Harbor Freight Tools part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You learn a lot of cool stuff about tools and such working there

    Cons

The tools they sell are beyond cheap and break all the time, we had to push useless warranties on people who can barely afford tools in the first place, the pay was awful and I struggled getting hours after talking to the managers about it multiple times

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and take their side once in a while. If they need help and are willing to work with you, don't just blow them off.

I worked at Harbor Freight Tools part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flexible scheduling, there is usually more than one manager on duty.

    Cons

Managers are bad at scheduling, newer employees aren't given many hours, customers are rude, and little to no room for advancement.

    Advice to Management

Learn how to schedule employees, don't hire new employees when there's already too few hours to give out, have one cash register open just for returns (because there's so many and they take longer than normal transactions) and answer the phones once in a while so cashiers can focus on their line of customers.

I worked at Harbor Freight Tools (Less than a year)

    Pros

There were no pros working there

    Cons

Management was a joke. Apparent only people that don't care about the employees get store management positions. I would show up for my one scheduled day for a five hour shift to find out they cut me off the schedule but didn't bother to tell me. I was told I'd be hired for full time. I had to pay for daycare also, not cheap!

    Advice to Management

Hire managers that treat employees like human beings not trash. Also not just train men to use the forklift, that was pretty sexist! Stick to the schedule but if it does have to be changed make sure everyone knows by phone call. The only manager that had any compassion for other workers got fired because he cared, that's messed up!
