I worked at Harbor Freight Tools (More than a year)

    Pros

The managers are really cool and for the most part are helpful and not always watching your back. Very laid-back environment that is fun unless it is really busy. Most of the customers are repeat customers so they are enjoyable as well.

    Cons

The district managers scare everybody at the store. They demand a lot out of employees and managers which creates a bad work environment. They create unrealistic measures for stores to achieve.

    Advice to Management

First and foremost, pay more money to warehouse workers. The turn around rate in that department is insane and the only way to keep them is to pay that position more money. When the warehouse work is finished and organized, it makes everything else easier and better for the cashiers and floor people.

I worked at Harbor Freight Tools part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Co-workers usually willing to help when having trouble figuring out where inventory goes.

    Cons

Hours scheduled for depend on your replacement plan & membership sales.

    Advice to Management

Don't punish employees that aren't able to make the sales, cashiers are there to ring sales, not push plans or memberships that customers don't want.

I have been working at Harbor Freight Tools part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Constantly striving for more from employees, PTO as soon as you start, flexible scheduling, fun environment, always more to learn about the merchandise, lots of room for advancement.

    Cons

The store I work in doesn't have enough people, the advancement opportunities aren't always in the same area.

    Advice to Management

Keep being awesome, and thank you for letting me work for your company.

I worked at Harbor Freight Tools part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Some of my co-workers were cool.
    - It was pretty easy to schedule time off.

    Cons

    - Definitely understaffed at our location.
    - Overwhelmed management.
    - Incompetent corporate.
    - ITC Prices that seem to confuse half of the costumers that shop there.
    - When someone is an ITC member you still have to manually scan the coupon discounts.
    - Thousands of coupons that are constantly changing and coming from random sources.
    - The very lenient 90 day return policy gets abused by a few costumers.
    - Having to watch out for scammers because of the return policy.
    - Credit Card Chip Readers beeping all day.
    - Cashiers get janitorial duties.
    - Having to ask costumers for their personal info.
    - Having to push warranties on items costumers used a free item coupon on.
    - Coworkers going above the chain of command and not being called out for it.

    Advice to Management

The only thing I could suggest for management is to not allow your employees to go above the chain of command, otherwise management was doing everything they could. Corporate should definitely consider investing in additional staff/checkout lines since this place is always mega busy and the checkout lines tend to go halfway to the back of the store during the midday rush.

You get extra money for selling memberships and protection plans. Which makes your salary way more than you can get anywhere els.

    Cons

Very demanding job. Dry seldom is store fully staffed.

    Advice to Management

I worked at Harbor Freight Tools part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Working with customers, learning all the tools there being able to learn the cash register, they offer some good benifits.

    Cons

They don't pay good at all, they don't offer full time, you will have to work up to it and there is no way to even work up at that company. The bathroom there are GROSS. I had a better bathroom at a gas station. They don't give you much hours. I worked one day one week. I called in to see if they can get me my schedule to see what time I come in the guy told me the wrong date and times when I went there I apparently missed my shift, they don't care, even if I missed my shift they gave me points, and they said they will talk to the other cashier to see if it was true, I got out of that company fast!!!

    Advice to Management

Be more nice to the employees cause they are working for you, there is no need to be rude and mean. Give more hours cause serious 9 hours for one week that's ridiculous even some people have to make a living for their family. Try giving them more a tour of the place before sending them off on the floor where they have no clue where anything is then ignore them while they ask. This company is a good starter job, but if you have families you need to help support go somewhere else!

I have been working at Harbor Freight Tools part-time

    Pros

I've been working at harbor freight tools store 0162 going on a year soon and i must say the level of respect , communication , organization and leadership is absolutely amazing . I enjoy coming to work every day because I know I will be rewarded and praised for my work ethics .

    Cons

Some of the downsides to working at harbor freight are the uniform while I love the t shirt or polo I feel like we should be allowed to wear something else other than jeans with the cold weather approaching I think maybe we should be allowed to wear track pants they make for great weather bottoms and they go along with the shirts we are giving . Another con I have is I feel like harbor Freight tools store should visit each other once a month kind of like send an employee to a different store day . Where employees from two stores swamp places for the day and see the similarities and differences in the stores .

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great communication and great leadership . It feels good knowing I have a management team who values and accepts our feedback , our issues and helps us stay on path .

I have been working at Harbor Freight Tools part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Easy job, plenty of little jobs to be done around the store, flexible with scheduling. Overall its a present place to work if you are only looking for a part time job.

    Cons

Management is as lost as everyone else, the clients are terrible, don't work there if you are female, you will get no respect from customers or management.

    Advice to Management

Be clearer with what you want from your employees, also don't lose your Composure if you tell employee to do something then get mad if YOU changed your mind on the project.
