    Pros

    Harbor Health is absolutely mission driven providing great quality care to patients from diverse backgrounds and geographic areas in Boston, South Shore and Cape Cod.

    Cons

    Harbor Health has grown tremendously and continues to grow which is great, but brings constant change and growing pains which brings its challenges.

    Pros

    Very flexible, small so it's easy to develop a great relationship with senior managers. Plenty of room for growth and improvement.

    Cons

    Pay could be better, but it is a non profit organization.

    Pros

    Compassionate personnel. Access to multilingual providers for convenience to our patients. Qualified providers well trained on their field of work. Great quality standards in infection control and patient care.

    Cons

    Busy schedule which could be a pro if you like to serve those in need of health care. Always in need of more personnel to satisfy the demands of our patients.

    Advice to Management

    Keep listening to employees for ways to improve our current employees and patients experience at our different community centers.

    I worked at Harbor Health Services (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    For much for the staff, there is so much love and dedication in the job. The pharmacy holds so much together. They really pull the weight for so much of the place. And they get so much in return as far as feedback from the patients.

    Cons

    Recently they have given in to the trend of using metrics as a standard of good care. How many times did the phone ring? How long did it take to fill the prescription? That is just lazy management.

    Advice to Management

    Give the pharmacy staff more staff hours as they function as switchboard, pharmacy, and sounding board for patients.

    Pros

    Friendly atmosphere, flex schedule, great patients.

    Cons

    Poor management allows abusive behavior as well as intimidation, managers are not held accountable for anything wrong within the center, and human resources department is useless. high school like atmosphere management style with cliques and bullying. Lots of favoritism going on. No room for advancement.

    Advice to Management

    Management needs to go!! starting with the CEO down the ladder. Senior management stinks.

    The organization is steeped in an important history. Geiger Gibson is the first community health center in the country.

    Cons

    The broad geographical reach of the company leads to a bit of disconnect company culture.

    Advice to Management

    Expand the board to recognize all the neighborhoods touched by the health center.

    Because the management is full of bullies, staff tend to stick together as a coping mechanism

    Authoritarian management full of bullies and those who protect bullies

    Start doing the right thing and your turnover rates will lower.
