I have been working at Harding, Shymanski & Company full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Trudy and the (majority) of VPs are amazing! Half day off Friday’s Labor Day through Memorial Day, “dress for your day” policy aka you can wear jeans, great with working a flexible schedule, continuing education, will pay for your first round of CPA tests (and review course), fun employee picnic/ tax season party/ Christmas party, 3 weeks vacation off the bat, 10 paid holidays, “open door policy” with management, and overall great co workers.

    Cons

Sometimes it does feel like they are more concerned about clients than employees but for the post part I don’t have any cons (besides the typical public accounting busyness).

I have been working at Harding, Shymanski & Company full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Super fun people to work with.

    Cons

Sometimes feel like Vice Presidents and those in charge do not care about your opinion on changes, or that they don't even know you exist

    Advice to Management

Please get to know your staff. You don't understand the world of difference it can make when you can greet your employees by your name and at least act like you care about their lives and appreciate them.

    Pros

The staff is great! They are all very helpful and always willing to assist you with any thing you may need help with. As an intern I learned a lot about public accounting.

    Cons

There are not any cons that I can think of about my experience there. I wish the internship would have been longer since it was only 6 weeks long.

    Advice to Management

I would consider making the internship during the summer longer (if possible) to give the interns more experience and time in the public accounting field.

    Pros

The people and clients you work for are all extremely nice and create an excellent work environment. Good work/life balance and great standing within the community.

    Cons

If you are looking for a larger firm (big 4 or even BKD), this may not be the place for you. Not to say that they aren't constantly looking to grow and improve. To some this is actually a positive attribute, but not to those looking for travel opportunities and location transfers. If you are from the area or are interested in living in Louisville or Evansville, then this would be a great place to work.

    Advice to Management

Do not fix what is broken! Keep the current culture alive.
