    Pros

They really do support the Fine Arts Program. Located in the South Side of San Antonio, the Fine Arts is a big part of the community.

    Cons

Medical Insurance options aren't that great. I wish teachers were better taken care of in regards to insurance.

I worked at Harlandale ISD part-time

    Pros

Working with students and being able to pick what days you want to sub or not.
    Flexibility

    Cons

Picking up jobs can backfire because there isn't a guarantee and there may be no jobs for the days you want to work it's all based on how many people need subs and it's a first come first serve thing.
Substitutes in general since forever are not taken seriously so teachers may leave work or may not
But students will decide how your day will be so that job is a serious as you want to make it. If students were conditioned to believe subs were just as important as teachers the job may be more fulfilling.
Pay is not great at least in this district.

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Harlandale ISD full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The small community makes it feel like family. The faculty and staff I have worked with over the years is exemplary in so many ways. The children in this community enjoy learning.

    Cons

Parents need to be more involved with their children's education even after elementary. Administration needs to be fair in everything. Sometimes it's "who you know" instead of what you can do to get the positions of upper management.

    Advice to Management

    Be fair!
