I have been working at Harlem Hospital Center full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

easy going, sometimes laid back (not sure is good or bad),
most of the staffs are friendly and down to earth depends on which unit you work.
unlike other strict discipline hospitals which mean that you can get by sometimes, but don't take it for granted.

    Cons

lack of communications is the BIGGEST problem.
    lack of support from administration.
    nursing salary ............forget about it!!!

    Advice to Management

    Support the staffs

I worked at Harlem Hospital Center full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Easy place to make money
    Simple cases to deal with
Easy to make extra money to stay over to do nothing

    Cons

There are too many lazy people working. And they never get fired. Only temporary people who used to work hard got fired. Cuz they couldn't put up with those lazy people.
There are no clear job description. If you don't want to do something, they will say it's not my job description, which haven't, never been proved OR just don't do it. Cuz they don't wanna do.
There are not clear, standard management, which everybody can follow and understand it.
On top of that, they don't really care about patients.

    Advice to Management

Fire lazy people who just come and get their check

I worked at Harlem Hospital Center full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Harlem Hospital tends to get a bad wrap, but I must say that I have learned so much and grown in my field. My supervisor was great and extremely supportive. You accrue vacation and sick from the first day you are enployed and as a city employee your health benefits are top notch! If you can work for a city hospital, you can work anywhere.

    Cons

Definitely difficult finding parking unless you work the overnight shift. A lot of people that enjoy gossiping instead of focusing on their own lives. There are a few administrators that hold high positions, yet probably shouldn't.

    Advice to Management

I would say to look closely at who you hire for administrative positions. Make sure they are personable and have the best interest of the employee in mind.
