    Pros

Great coworkers and management is very understanding. You are able to adjust your schedule to where it works for you. 9-5, which I was not used to because I made my own schedule at the last job, bu it is really enjoyable.

    Cons

A few Clients are disrespectful, but Management tries to work it out with both worker and Client.

I worked at Harlem United Community Aids Center as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great staff everyone was caring and seemed to enjoy being there. My supervisors were always accessible and they were knowledgeable in their field. They are also very understanding of the stressful nature of the helping professions.

    Cons

A bit disorganized as far as communication between staff. Some of the departments were undergoing a transition at the time I was there so I don't think this is the norm.

    Pros

The training workshops offered to staff are great for professional learning and implementing in practice. Lot's of room to learn and network with colleagues.

    Cons

There is little room for growth, some staff members have been within programs for years with little to show for it. Within some departments there is a sense of clique mentality. There are unrealistic expectations put on certain departments in regards to data logging/paperwork and case loads.

    Advice to Management

Open up more opportunities to staff. Better communication between departments is needed in order to execute the expectations given to staff.

I worked at Harlem United Community Aids Center as an intern

    Pros

Staff were welcoming and eager to share. Clients seemed to have a good relationship with staff.

    Cons

Because of the nature of the work, a lot of information was closed off to a volunteer and I was often left feeling useless.

    Advice to Management

Create clearer roles for volunteers and make sure the staff are also aware of these roles.
