I have been working at Harley-Davidson, Inc. full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Exciting product to work on. H-D's existing platforms are as exciting to work on as the new electric bikes that have been announced.

    Cons

Downsides...the competition is high for promotions. The company employs top talent and therefore you have huge competition to get to the next level

    Pros

Coworkers really made my job easy. Requardless of the disfunction of management .

    Cons

Due to the company closing. Everything thing was o disfunctional. No concern for the emplyees. Employees like myself was expecting to retire in a few years. Our dreams where dashed.

I have been working at Harley-Davidson, Inc. full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Relaxed and mostly self-managed work environment

    Fun product to work on

    Cons

Benefits continue to be eliminated and work continues to grow due to international expansion (more work in other time zones)

There has been roughly one major strategic or organizational change, including layoffs, each year over recent years

    Advice to Management

The yearly changes within the individual departments to meet the (relatively) consistent goals of the company seem haphazard and uninformed to anyone who has been through more than one or two. Perhaps it would be best to allow these changes time to integrate into the culture and operations of the teams before being abandoned.

I worked at Harley-Davidson, Inc. full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Laid back
    Slow and minimum work
    No pressure from management
    Above average market pay

    Cons

    No vision
Leadership weak in knowledge and titled skill sets
    Unprofessional employees
No one follows the HDFS core values

    Advice to Management

Everyone is there to cruise and wait for retirement, even if its 30 years away. Companies processes are outdated, leadership cannot make hard decisions, and enrolls in company politics so subordinates are constantly in limbo. The work environment is outdated by 2 decades. Needs to change and modernize.

    Pros

    Coworkers, product, passion, legacy, events

    Cons

Bureaucracy, politics, career development (lack thereof)

    Advice to Management

Modernize and integrate project management tools. Let engineers do engineering instead of project management work.

I worked at Harley-Davidson, Inc. full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great heritage - used to be a great employer who treated employees well

    Cons

No trust. Directors and above cannot be honest with senior leadership. Ancient systems. Concerned about the companies future and H-D’s inability to reach the next gen. If electric doesn’t work, then ??

    Advice to Management

Diversify - motorcycling is a shrinking market. Remember the Holiday Rambler or snowmobile days?
