I have been working at Harley-Davidson, Inc. full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

A lot of passion. Great products. A lot of capabilities in a laid back atmosphere.

    Cons

A lot of talk and indecision. Some uncertainty in the industry.

    Advice to Management

As we move into future innovative products, trust our internal capabilities. When we bring in external engineering/manufacturing experts in, we often know more than they do. If we are better at designing or manufacturing things, we should continue to do it ourselves in Milwaukee. Our customers want as much as possible designed and manufactured in Milwaukee so let’s encourage that.

Once a great, well Managed enviroment to work in. May still offer free coffee?

    Cons

    - Nepotism, Dishonesty, Cliques, and Malicious Gossip run rampant
    - Blatant Employee fraternization with Upper Management

    - Upper Management soliciting and encouraging scapegoating of others
    - Disgruntled co-workers with poor attitudes
    - Constant and un-ending berating from Upper Management for not praising their ideas as Gospel
    - Being patted on the back by the left hand of Management and Co-Workers while being stabbed in the back by the right hand
    - A non-existent Human Resources department that turns a blind eye
    - Work/Life balance non-existent
    - No room or opportunity for advancement on this sinking ship

    Advice to Management

You need to look behind the curtain and see whats really going on at this division, stop drinking the Kool-Aid being served by your Upper Management team.

Need an overhaul at the top, recognize people for their experience.

Excellent company culture supportive of mobility and growth within company, casual and friendly environment, excellent entry-level vacation policy

I worked at Harley-Davidson, Inc. full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Assembly work was generally easy and stress-free.

    Cons

Where to start... morale on the salary and hourly side of things is incredibly low.

It's extremely difficult to move up in the company, especially when it comes to transitioning from hourly to salary.

Standardized processes and other policies are pushed heavily. This isn't a problem. What is a problem, is that all of this is pushed aside if it impedes the ability of pushing bikes out of the door.

    Advice to Management

The company is competing against itself. Why buy a new bike when there's a ton of low mileage nearly new (used) product on the market?
