I have been working at Harmonic full-time for less than a year

    Pros

I came from a large corporation and was looking for the perfect fit when finding a small/midsize company. I love how everyone is so friendly and it really is a tight knit community in the office. Everyone is really easy to get a hold of and is responsive and wants to help you. A lot of employees here get to wear multiple hats in their role to expand their skill set as well which you don’t see in larger companies

    Cons

nothing at the moment - keep doing a great job at communicating with employees and increasing morale/engagement

I worked at Harmonic full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good internal training, information is well shared in the company in terms of products and features.

    Cons

Company has no long or mid term view, everyone working there does not know if will be employed the next quarter. Very strange atmosphere. Very disconnected areas, lack of synergy between areas. Resources are wasted, between marketing, pre-sales, sales and engineering.

    Advice to Management

Care more about the main assets a company have, people! People develop the products, innovate and is your face at the customer site. Unfortunately, the Company does not look like it cares about the people working there.

I worked at Harmonic full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Build well selling video encoder products on the market. Reasonably well paid, and easy to collaborate colleagues and nice local management.

    Cons

Many issues in cross site management. High-level management is not transparent to lower level departments or different sites.

    Advice to Management

More constructive and transparent cross site management is needed.

I worked at Harmonic full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great engineers (the ones that are still left and have been around for the past 15+ years)

    Cons

Terrible management, clueless, fighting for their jobs it seems, political battles among the VPs. Too many useless VPs actually. Keeping their jobs as a stepping stone for their next job.

    Advice to Management

Do the company a favor and resign because you're just making it worse for the engineers and driving the company to bankruptcy.

I have been working at Harmonic full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Smart people who form a hard working and effective team. We have local managers and directors that set clear goals, look out for us, keep us well-informed of company marketing and sales opportunities, new customers and how business is actually going. A quiet environment where work can and actually gets done.

    Cons

The usual issues with working in a satellite office. Difficulty in finding and hiring qualified replacement managers.

    Advice to Management

    Maintain the course.

I have been working at Harmonic full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Passionate, hard working team members at all levels. Well managed transition from hardware products to software to cloud. Many new products and services being released each month, to global customers. Lots of personal growth opportunities. Great environment to learn new technologies, and operate in start-up like mode for new products and services.

    Cons

As many other mid-sized companies with global workforce footprint, need to be flexible with working hours. Though if able to manage working the timezones, can get a lot done in 24 hour period.

    Advice to Management

Keep leveraging the strengths of global workforce and modern technologies.
