    Pros

Great community of teachers and administration!

    Cons

As all teachers would wish I believe at any school we should get better pay as educators for all that we do.

I have been working at Harmony Public Schools part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

They hire many young teachers and if you seek promotion to administration, there are many opportunities.

    Cons

They tend to change their policies and procedures frequently. They don't stick with anything long enough to see if it works.

    Advice to Management

Don't overwork your administrators and teachers or you will lose them to other districts, or even careers!

I have been working at Harmony Public Schools full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Most of the kids are great
    - Administration (at my campus) is pretty flexible if I want to try something new
    - School discipline has tightened somewhat, with a new discipline system being implemented next year
-A recent pay scale increase puts HPS even with HISD, leading to an increase in teacher morale and retention

    Cons

-Academic offerings at my campus are narrow, leading to student frustration
-HPS as a whole is disorganized, and this culture permeates many campuses
-Because charters do NOT have to follow state regulations for teacher/student ratio, teacher:student can be as bad as 1:30! Prospective employee, beware! Some teachers (ESL, SPED, Intervention) will not face this problem
-Paperwork requirements are high, but cutting corners is often possible

    Advice to Management

-Do your best to fix teacher:student ratio. I strongly believe that this will help reduce employee fatigue and will increase teacher retention and student success

I worked at Harmony Public Schools full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

STEM courses offered are reasonably well-structured and taught.

    Cons

A very disorganized system that caters mostly to Middle East and Far East Muslim students in major U.S. cities. It is run by Fethullah Gulen and his Hizmet group from Turkey. Gulen is a Muslim Imam exiled in Pocono, Pennsylvania, and he has Turkish type Islamic schools all over the world. Here in Texas he uses our taxpayer money to run his charter Harmony Schools. Even the architecture is Islamic because they cater mostly to Turkish construction companies as well as even their lunch menu is provided by Turkish owned caterers. The cleaning and maintenance staff are employed by Turkish cleaning companies though the employees are mostly Latino immigrants. Most of the teaching staff can have racial diversity with Turkish teachers who may not have a Texas teaching certificate. Additionally, the majority of administrative staff and central office staff are from Turkey.

    Advice to Management

Diversify and allow other racial groups to advance to administrative positions. Reorganize your administration since it is ineffective and disorganized at the school level and at the central office level.

I have been working at Harmony Public Schools full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Excellent place to work. The employees are very friendly and respectful. Awesome work hours and time off. Although I did not have a pleasant on-boarding experience I felt very comfortable due to the employee hospitality.

    Cons

Employer (Harmony) calls your current employer for a reference. I did not like that process because I did not notify my current employer that I was looking for another job. I just felt if Harmony would have never hired me, they were jeopardizing my career.

    Advice to Management

When boarding employees I would recommend providing the employees with a full benefit package prior to their first day of work. Explaining to the employees the health benefits cost along with supplementary insurance cost, etc. I think Central Office on-boarding process needs to be streamline. Ensuring employees has a work station, computers, phone, etc. when walking in for their first day of work.
