    I worked at Harris-Stowe State University part-time

    Pros

As an HBCU, the College's goals are admirable

    Cons

    1) As an HBCU, the College's goals are admirable. But...it was also founded in conjunction as women's college. And, it does just about nothing to celebrate and acknowledge this part of its history. 2) Does not treat faculty and staff with the respect they deserve. 3) Creates and covers up problems instead of solving them.

    Advice to Management

To HSSU Administration: Resign. To HSSU Board of Regents: Listen to staff and faculty. To Missouri DHE: Examine standards and practices more scrupulously.

I have been working at Harris-Stowe State University full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The few people who are truly dedicated to helping the students

    Cons

The pay is horrible for hourly workers and those that aren't in the clique.

    Advice to Management

When you hire your friends and family you must remember that your reputation is on the line as well. Just because you have a degree doesn't mean you are right.

I have been working at Harris-Stowe State University full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Decent starting place. Small environment, friendly people, safe, small campus, great students. Athletics is on the rise as well as some academic areas. President has a great vision. Great biology department and new partnerships with SLU and WashU.

    Cons

disorganized, unmotivated, departments ran by unqualified people. Spend a lot of time doing other people's jobs. Important offices constantly lose students' paperwork and mis-advise students.

    Advice to Management

Hire people who are interested in serving college students- not just people interested in collecting a check and clocking out at 4:59. If you are going to work in hire education, you must be invested in making PEOPLE better,
