I worked at Harris Teeter (More than a year)

    Pros

    Insurance, flexible hours, good pay

    Cons

The training videos are mandatory and annoying.

    Advice to Management

Managers shouldn't speak negatively about the job.

I worked at Harris Teeter part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good benefits for part time. Pretty good company. Average pay and most of the people including managers are good people. My experience was not bad.

    Cons

Was told I would become full time, never got to be full time. If you are a favorite then you will rise, if for some reason you are not you will just be pushed around wherever they need you while they keep promising things they have no intentions of doing. It does not matter work ethic. If you are a man over 6 ft tall you will be a favorite.

    Advice to Management

Stop telling people you will advance them and then go outside to hire managers. This happened to many of the full time people where i worked, they were trying to become trained managers then harris teeter goes outside of company and brings someone in to train. Its not fair for the hard workers that have been there. read cons management

I have been working at Harris Teeter part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I got this job as a high school student. It was a job that was meant to be just a summer job, but it turned into 2 years. Managers are very flexible with the schedule and know that school comes first. Everyone is nice and shows you what to do.

    Cons

Getting problems addressed by management is difficult and a lengthy process.

    Advice to Management

    Communicate with the employees better.

Need more workers at Harris Teeters that stay , from being there a month everyone I talk to is still in High school which is not bad but can barely work

    Advice to Management

Stop panicking when a rush is in and wish had more conversation time with management. Get to know the company better

    Pros

Fast paced environment with exemplary training and great benefits and an interesting clientele which was very engaging every single day

    Cons

In-store training was very lackluster less than 20 years old was hard for an adult to deal with would have been better if I would have trained myself if I just had a book to train myself with

    Advice to Management

Hire some people that are older than 20 that can actually trained by training standards vs. Just a come as you are go as you will attitude

I have been working at Harris Teeter full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flexible hours. They allow you to take unpaid time off. Most employees and management are very easy to get a long with.

    Cons

They cut your hours. Full time is considered 36 hours which is hard to maintain a realistic budget because some weeks you work 40 others 36 and they are so strict with your hours! No overtime allowed at all no matter how busy you are.

    Advice to Management

Don't cut people's hours. Encourage growth and reward employees for good jobs done

I worked at Harris Teeter part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

They work with odd scheduling hours since they are a 24 hour store in most locations. Good for a second job, a retired person or a student.

    Cons

Breaks are not very often and when you are busy you have a hard time getting a bathroom break or a drink of water.

    Advice to Management

Schedule breaks and stick to the schedule. Allow cashiers to have water at the register, especially in hot summer months.
