    Pros

I enjoy my customers, co- workers, and managers. I feel our store works as a team for the best interest of our customers.

    Cons

The pay sucks, I go to work each day knowing I am under paid. I think Burger King pays more.

    Advice to Management

Review employees pay every six months. There would be less employee turn over we were paid correctly.

    Pros

    Financial Sound company, profitable ...

    Cons

NO work / life balance ... did I say NO

    Advice to Management

Treat your salaried managers like you do hourly. We have lives too. I know there is ALOT of pressure to run a tight ship, I get that. But, I see why there is such a HIGH burnout rate when it come to salaried managers. I worked a scheduled six to seven days a week from September through January. I understand that this needs to be done during the Holidays of around special events. But, this is the norm, even the Store Director is working 6 and 7 days a week. They want world class customer service but when your working your 60th hour of the week during a busy Sunday in January, it's hard to focus on the customer.

When I was scheduled five days, I was told that it would be good if I came in on one of those days off to make sure thing were getting done. If I did, we would try to get a half day off somewhere along the way.

I have been working at Harris Teeter part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pays More than Minimum Wage, you get the time off that you want.

    Cons

Most of the people you work with will try their best not to work and management will do nothing about it. Lies to try to get you to work extra. Unfriendly superiors, that try their best to make your job harder than it needs to be even if you are the best of workers.

    Advice to Management

Instead of focusing on making those who are actually working pick up the slack, go and tell the person who walks around the store for their entire shift to get to work. Baggers never bag, this makes the workload on everyone else much worse and cause a drop in moral.

I worked at Harris Teeter part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They allowed me to work super flexible hours and were really understanding of when I wanted to leave on vacation with my family. They had decent training before I got to cashier at a new store.

    Cons

Being on the front line, I noticed that things were unorganized at time. The management seemed very young and a little bit unorganized. They were pretty nice though.

    Pros

Can't think of any, except that it's an easy job to get because I'm sure the turnover is huge, and they need a large pool of workers to fill in the gaps.

    Cons

Low pay compared to similar jobs for other companies. Not enough hours. Too many rules and regulations that the old timers or manager favorites don't have to adhere to. Write-ups for trivial things and being made to feel that you you are on trial everyday you come to work. At 20 hrs a week for a year you'll be lucky to make 8 or 9 thousand dollars!

    Advice to Management

Get some decent trainers. When you get on the floor you discover that the instruction books aren't accurate so you try to learn from individuals who don't know how to communicate or even speak clearly enough to be understood. Most of the employees that have been there for a long time resent new employees and are not eager to help them learn because they feel we are going to cut into their hours or move ahead of them for promotions.
