I have been working at Harris Teeter full-time

    Pros

The people aside from management that you'll meet are pretty nice. Although in majority the customers are arrogant, rude, and demanding, there are a few customers that you'll meet that will become almost like family. They have good benefits although your paycheck will be useless after paying for it.

    Cons

The schedule changes without a prior notice. Causing confusion. The place is ALWAYS understaffed. Which is strenuous on the employees. As I mentioned the customers are rude, arrogant, and demanding. Harris teeter has this thing where you cannot tell the customer 'no' no matter how stupid the request is. Somebody asked me to deliver a bag to thier house that was 20 minutes away and I had to say yes. Me being full time I have no say in when I can be scheduled. There were plenty of times where I closed at 11pm and opened at 6 the next day. There are huge pay differences that they say they can fire you for taking about (which they can't because it's illegal). That opens the opportunity for prejudice and favoritism. I've been working there for 3 years and I'm making $10. I had to fight for that $1 pay raise and I find out that a part time kids who's been here for a month is making$10. See what I'm talking about. Management never compliments you on a good job. We can't even talk to each other during shifts because they want you to be 'ready for customers'. They pressure you to get donations for some charity that they do every other month and you get in trouble if you aren't getting enough as if you can control people's desires to be kind.

    Advice to Management

Grow a pair and treat your employees right. Be realistic and set reasonable expectations

I worked at Harris Teeter part-time

    Pros

Harris teeter had a great staff and great flexible hours for a high school student like me

    Cons

they got to a point where they overstaffed the cashiers and brought me down to four hours a week

    Advice to Management

over staffing is the worst possible thing you can do because when a girl like me needs money to pay off car insurance and four hours a week would not cut it

    Pros

Mangers are overall nice, people who work there are kind and real and try to level with you about any situation you might speak of.

    Cons

The company doesn't want to increase pay even if your high up in your department, me personally I have had one bad manager and the company didn't do anything about the complaints about her. over worked, underpaid would be my main points, oh and I love the customers because there rather kind but every now and then you get that one that expects you to be perfect and if your not they complain and try to get you in trouble

    Advice to Management

In my experiences I haven't had problems with my mangers as far as like major issues other than only one
