I have been working at Harris Teeter part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They provide a safe and clean working environment. It is a great place for teens and adults to find part-time work or full time work. Overall management it helpful and interested in making sure the store runs well and workers are doing well.

    Cons

The downsides are that it is a rise and fall type of environment. When the store is busy and sales are rising you work many hours and are exhausted, when the sales slow your hours are cut, often drastically from one month to the next.

    Advice to Management

I would suggest that they take a good look at each department and see how the managers are handling the scheduling of the employees. There have often been times at my store where the schedule had people working that no longer worked at our store and they left it that way for weeks. This left us with one or two people to close our department at night by ourselves. There were several occasions where the assistant store manager actually came to my department and assisted me with closing the department, washing the dishes and all. I thank God and the assistant manager that helped me because I never would have finished for hours if he hadn't.

I have been working at Harris Teeter part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Its a low level job, so I would say the environment is average. They push the rules, but arent anal about them. Management is ok, but i have 3 supervisors and they are all so different. They dont really enforce things that are supposed to be done and can make the job easier, so some bad apples just make my job harder, but thats just par for the course, so not positive or negative really.

But if you want to stick through it and become a supervisor/manager, the pay becomes good, the benefits are good, and middle management has been good to me. Seeing 2 stores run, i feel that they treat you very well.
Even my supervisors treat me well.
It is a good career path in my opinion.
Plus they have twice yearly profit sharing.

    Cons

I dont really see a downside to working there. Its a good career path, and for some a decent job to pay the bills while working toward something better.

    Advice to Management

I really cant say there is anything major to comment on.
