I worked at Harris Teeter part-time

    Pros

Harris Teeter provides good benefits for employees and if you are a student you can ask supervisor to work only the days that you are off from class.

    Cons

You have to really work and not just standing and counting the clock

I have been working at Harris Teeter full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company has great benefits, and has wonderful people working in the company as well. Many locations are kind and will work with you on getting the best employment experience possible.

    Cons

Not all of the locations share in the benefits. I have worked in two so far, and have felt that the two have very different environments. One was very nice, and friendly, and it made me love coming in to work. My current location seems much more hostile and demanding. The managers dislike one another, which of course causes problems. I have worked two jobs in this location, day-runner, and grocery stock clerk. I had heard that I was being under-paid as a day-runner, and when I switched to stock clerk, I knew I was being paid less than I should be, as my pay did not change despite my higher paying position. I plan to address the management about this, I've been working as a grocery stock clerk for about two weeks. If that doesn't go well, I will unfortunately have to leave the company.

    Advice to Management

Pay your associates what they deserve, and if you have a problem with other members of the management, address them, don't gossip behind their backs.

I have been working at Harris Teeter full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Pay is decent and management team is nice the company has great ideas and suggestions but they are realistically never reached.

    Cons

Work life balance is horrible and company expectations are ridiculous. The store is given a low budget and expected to move mountains

    Advice to Management

If corporate would give a reasonable budget to work with and stop living by the horse and pony show it would be a great company

I worked at Harris Teeter part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The customers and employees are good people, you get a discount on HT brand items, time passes by during peak hours, base pay for cashier is above average.

    Cons

During rush hour, things can get hectic especially since not many cashiers are working the front end. Most of the time the CS clerks are behind the desk just talking and managers aren't the best with scheduling. They take granted of your availability and will call you to ask if you can come in even in days you request off. The managers are rude as well and treat employees with little respect. Also they expect you to do tasks that weren't listed in your job description.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees better, don't blame everything that goes wrong with the store on them.

    Pros

free items on evic, free meals, 10% on Harris Teeter items. 2 times yearly bonus in April and September.

    Cons

Once locked into hourly position it is difficult to move up to management level position even when you are better suited than those holding such position in tbe company. Never sell yourself short. The so called management will fraustrate you till you quit voluntarily.

    Advice to Management

serious need for asset protection especially if you operate 24 hours service. need in house hr staff. headoffice hr can not properly identify good quality staff for promotion.

I worked at Harris Teeter part-time

    Pros

The Benefits & Discounts were a nice plus

    Cons

As a cashier, I didn't expect to do bagger work. For example cashiers often cleaned bathrooms, took out the trash, brought in carts, swept the floors. It was very unorganized. When I first started taking the tests I would call the store and ask when to come in next, after I passed my tests I called back the next day to know when I should start and the manager and I picked a time; I came into work on time and all of the customer service managers started accusing me of being late. They put me on the schedule without my knowledge. They never even showed me how to look at the schedule or where it was. Managers also wrote me up for calling in sick when I was under 18.

    Advice to Management

    Be more organized
    Touch base with management
