    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Harrison Medical Center full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great co-workers in my department. They really seem to care and work hard to do the best they can for our patients.

    Cons

Harrison has lost its way after merging with CHI. Overworked and understaffed everywhere. It also seems that the bottom line is more important now being with CHI than it ever mattered when we were on our own.

CHI does not listen to their employees and do not seem to care what happens to us. Lots of people are being let go and some departments are being 'restructured' or privatized for a better bottom line. CHI has made a lot of decisions that Harrison would not have done.

    Advice to Management

I don't think I can give any advice to management. Management in my department do listen to us but if you go any higher, they think they know better and refuse to listen.

  7. "Toxic at all levels...stay away for work and as a patient. I would do zero stars if possible."

I worked at Harrison Medical Center full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

This hospital is struggling and I don't think there is a lot of positives about this hospital. Maybe the new site in 2020 could help turn around the negative culture.

    Cons

    Negative Patient Experiences to frequently.
Front Line Staff in most departments can't play as a team.
Issues with union create a negative environment. There is a lot of management versus staff issues in departments which creates barriers and slows down progress.
Departments often don't get along and never manage up each other.
Turnover is high even with management on all levels. Almost 5 departments in a year were fully wiped out and reconstructed with less managers.
Staffing is very poor and people are over worked. Sadly with CHI this will only get worse as they will continue to reduce staffing for profits.

Overall you will likely have a negative experience with this hospital as it's toxic on all levels. Don't be fooled by any other review as this is the reality.

    Advice to Management

Work with the frontline staff and understand staffing reductions are not a good idea.

    Pros

Great Coworkers, lots of scope of practice as a Tech.

    Cons

Breaks are considered an endangered species. Management worried about the bottom line a lot.

    Advice to Management

Your people are your greatest strength.

I have been working at Harrison Medical Center full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Management in the Supper Services building are pretty great. They speak to you like an equal and are very understanding.

    Cons

The pay is low compared to what I'm used to and the benefits are an embarassment

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees what they deserve and provide health insurance that isn't so expensive that we are scared to use it.

  10. "Merge with CHI making working conditions worse than ever."

I have been working at Harrison Medical Center full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Coworkers and immediate supervisor are outstanding. Moving hospital to Silverdale within the next two years. Most equipment is fairly new.

    Cons

Mismanaged, understaffed, underpaid. Benefits ok, not great. Building is old. It's freezing wherever you go. Scheduling is inconsistent, mainly because there is not enough staff to fill all shifts.

    Advice to Management

Turn up the thermostats, hire more people and focus on your people, not pushing through projects.
