Great company to work for!
May 30, 2020 - Customer Service Representative in Wellesley, MARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great benefits. Great work/life balance. Lots of growth in the company. Many people move up into higher positions within 1 year. Michael Carson was a great guy. He wanted to get to know all of us and even remembered things I told him months ago. Solid guy.
Cons
None honestly. Every job has it's times of being a drag, but I couldn't have been happier with my experience and treatment from fellow employees and management.

Pros
Great benefits. Free parking. Outstanding mid- and low level staff. Excellent provider network. Good brand. Harvard Medical School affiliation
Cons
I worked at HPHC for 21 years, starting with one of the two companies that merged to create what became Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. When I started, it had the community at its heart and was more devoted to promoting health and wellness. In time, the company became more bottom-line driven. Not only did the welfare of the community become secondary, the welfare and support of its employees became second place. While I was sad to leave, I was happy because what the company had become is totally unlike what it was when it was truly devoted to promoting the health and welfare of the community.

Great stepping stone to build career
Jul 17, 2015 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Many opportunities to get involved in different projects - expand skills and knowledge in other areas of health/wellness program development, implementation, assessment and management. Continued education encouraged and reimbursement is available. Excellent environment to network and shadow senior-level roles. Great benefits. Supportive network of professionals.
Cons
Highly competitive environment that creates tension among team members working on the same project. Takes a long time to move up the ladder (several years to move from associate role to management). Very apparent hierarchical structure in the office. Lack of inter-departmental communication or interaction. Lack of social interaction in general - both in and out of the office.

Pros
One of the BBJ's top companies to work for 9 consecutive years. Great benefits. Focused on diversity and inclusion. Really cares about employees.
Cons
Sometimes too much coddling of employees. Afraid to make hard decisions. HR can be viewed as a roadblock and focuses on why something can't be done rather than how to make it happen.
