    Pros

Harvard is really great overall. You get to work with incredible peers who are very passionate about their work in an incredible setting.

    Cons

You have to remember this is a university so there is some expectation that you always be available. This can be a drain on work-life balance. It is also very bureaucratic.

I have been working at Harvard University full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Harvard is a premiere global research university, and as a graduate student you have access to all the resources this entails. A great library system, the world's leading experts in almost every field you can think of, competitive pay and benefits, and a network of alumni--in these respects, Harvard, in my experience, is all that one would hope.

    Cons

Many of the downsides of being a graduate student at Harvard are not unique to Harvard but are more symptomatic of the position. The apprentice/employee status and the university's general disapproval of unions means that while benefits and compensation will be among the best in the business, there is no uniformity across (and sometimes within) departments and programs.
