I have been working at Harvard University full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Smart, creative, hardworking colleagues. Exciting, dynamic environment. Great benefits. Great neighborhood (Harvard Square). Strong sense of community. Important mission. Lots of opportunities for career growth. Great professional development offerings. Exciting research and scholarship. Wonderful new President (Larry Bacow).

    Cons

(This review is re: the development office) Surprisingly, even Harvard doesn’t always hit the nail on the head vis a vis hiring — specifically in the development shop’s upper management. They are making some corrections now, and that is encouraging. Salaries are modest.

I have been working at Harvard University part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

They care about the whole person; I've never been to a staff meeting where so many people smile. Harvard University has great benefits. It's a great place if you want to find stability.

    Cons

Not a whole lot of innovation due to limited budgets and imaginations/comfort of management. It's one of the smaller schools so not a lot of growth opportunities if you want to stay there.
