I have been working at Harvard University full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Harvard is a place that offer several learning opportunities to its employees and great benefits. It also fosters a culture of respect and allows opportunity for growth. There are policies and several resources in place, should employees face difficulties at work or at the personal level.

    Cons

The University's decentralization becomes an issue because different schools within Harvard tend to operate differently. There is a culture of idolization of faculty, which leads many of them to abuse their power. There aren't clear resources for those who need career coaching.

I worked at Harvard University full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Great benefits, generous time off, stimulating work environment. Higher pay than similar admin jobs at other universities. Great work/life balance.

    Cons

Upward mobility for admin jobs is possible but is a very slow process. Can take years and years. Human resources is generally unhelpful and extremely slow. Lots of bureaucracy in general.
