I worked at Hasbro full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Half Day Fridays
    - Great Pay
    - Great Benefits Package
    - Great Fellow Co-Workers
    - Great Budget

    Cons

    - Excessive Overtime
    - Excessive Micro-Management/Scrutiny
    - Managers are abusive, bullying, and controlling:
              - Managers constantly changing minds, without giving clear direction demanding immediate changes due to not knowing what they want - resulting in all-nighters, high-pressure stressful crunches, and inefficient use of people's times.
           - Managers demand nothing short of full-obedience to "rules" that they arbitrarily create but make exceptions only for themselves.
           - Managers demand a certain type of "personality" or else employee will be target for abusive treatment such as public reprimands, not acknowledging work, and last minute assignments.

    Advice to Management

    To RI:
    - Replace entire managerial staff in the LA office with more qualified leaders with experience who know how to treat employees with respect and professional courtesy rather than being patronizing and abusive to compensate for poor leadership skills.

    - Allow for honesty among employees (current environment punishes people who speak openly)

I have been working at Hasbro full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Highly creative, collaborative and intensely fast paced environment with global scope.

    Cons

It's just the nature of the toy and entertainment industry - sometimes over-developed ideas loose value, or decisions are made to pull a produce too quickly from the market.

    Advice to Management

Although management encourages risk taking within reason, many employees still feel uncomfortable in accepting this challenge.

I have been working at Hasbro full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Hasbro gives back to the community and encourages volunteering in work hours. Respected Fortune 500 company is good for resume building. "Cool" factor of working on prestige brands.

    Cons

Moving positions out of the country creates continual pressure to perform and justify position, so always trying to do more with less. Middle and lower management not well trained and upper management unaware of issues.

    Advice to Management

Set up management training schemes and require participation of all managers, including newly hired and newly promoted managers and their immediate supervisors.
Increase career opportunities for existing employees.
Facilitate ease of cross-functional and lateral moves within company.

    Pros

Hasbro is a large global toy company, they have excellent pay and benefits over all. The employees at Hasbro are an exciting mixture of creative, dedicated, and family oriented people.Working with an entire team of people dedicated to making children happy is rewarding and pleasurable every day. The compensation was above market for my particular position, and vacation/holiday package is 3 to 6 weeks, very generous.

    Cons

Hasbro is falling into corporate america ideals. Cutting employees, outsourcing jobs, freezing annual cost of living increases, and cancelling all of the fringe benefits that used to be common place . Haunted house for all employees to bring in their children? company sponsored big wheel racing? These things and dozens more made the company part of every employees family. That created a commitment to company that cannot be measured. Watching it all being taken away piece by piece has destroyed the personal relationship That built a great company. I"ll have another job soon enough but nothing will compare to the unique experience Hasbro provided and a driven involved staff, is paramount to success. that bond has fallen to you becoming just a number...is going to inevitably this loss of bond is going to severely impair Hasbro's future in the industry.

    Advice to Management

The founders of hasbro had a set of ideal that should be A business model for a growing progressive company. I would like this note to impart a goal . ideal that was years in the making.and should be maintained at all cost.

investigate how people are actually treated by some managers. it is quite unethical and against code of conduct.
