I worked at Hassell full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Met some excellent colleagues who have since become close friends. I was lucky to have an elder mentor guide me through thick and thin and will forever be grateful for that despite being in a corporate environment.
Had quite a few opportunities to travel for projects as well.
Good quality projects and most of their satellite offices are well designed.

    Cons

As with any corporate firms, there is always the typical office politics to deal with.

    Advice to Management

Takes more effort to be noticed by management in order to fast-track one's career. Perhaps have a robust system that can help manage this process better for everyone.

    Pros

Interesting projects - or it used to be. Good logistical support.

    Cons

Bad office politics. Management is more concerned about self promotion than keeping valuable staff.

    Advice to Management

No advice - as though they would listen. Blah.

    Disapproves of CEO

    I worked at Hassell full-time

    Pros

    - Workplaces are stunning
    - A true 'design culture' if you are a pure designer and value a 'studio' mentality (ie. long hours, hierarchy of designers, wearing black)

    Cons

    - The culture is ugly. A very high turnover of staff, pay is less than market rate, and little value of staff's time/personality/skills that everyone brings to a team
    - Competition over collaboration: There is a clear 'A' team and 'B' team
    - Time is not valued, people need project management and time management skills

    Advice to Management

    - Culture is set from the top: role model from the top
    - Managing Director is changing so this may bring new change.
