I worked at Hastings Entertainment (More than 5 years)

    Pros

These stores collect people with passion for the job and products they sell. A very special store that has things you can not find anywhere else. Think of Spencers, Barnes & Noble and Blockbuster together and on steriods

    Cons

The pay was on the low side and the advancement was slow for a few years.

    Advice to Management

    CEO picked us clean

I worked at Hastings Entertainment full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The stores had a wide variety of entertainment product.

    Cons

Upper management and store management sold out their hard-working store employees, instead of accepting responsibility for failures. The stores had too much unnecessary product.

    Advice to Management

You got what you deserved. I saw multiple employees who bent over backward for the company for little pay who were fired by bad store and district managers.

I have been working at Hastings Entertainment part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great people to work with, management extremely friendly and helpful. Sad to see it go as I would have loved to have moved up in the company and done my part to see it prosper. Multimedia stores like this are too few and far between.

    Cons

Going out of business was the only con. The pay was slightly above minimum wage, but that's how it goes in retail.

    Advice to Management

Have a good life and I hope you find work after the closing. Sometimes things just don't work out the way you would hope.
