I worked at Hathaway-Sycamores Child and Family Services full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Working and making a difference in lives of children and families.

    Cons

Too many VP/AVPs/Directors, Assistant Directors, Assistant to the Assistant Directors, Assistant to the Assistant to the Assistant Director. Research department has 100 staff members, all incredibly over paid. Too much focus on profits, for a non-profit Reorganization of the agency was a total failure Reorganization and "centralizing of referral team" is a total failure

    Advice to Management

I have been working at Hathaway-Sycamores Child and Family Services full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    They have many locations.

    Cons

No transparency from executive team. The CEO, Debbie Mammers has ran it to the ground. They don’t care about providing quality services. They want the numbers $$$. They are constantly in crisis when it comes to finances. Every year they say they’ve run out of money and everyone worries whether they are going to have a job.

    Advice to Management

Hire proper financial team that can forsee trends.

I have been working at Hathaway-Sycamores Child and Family Services full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Coworkers, benefits, helping families and children.

    Cons

Where to start...This is the type of agency that in one hand needs to save money by cutting whole departments while at the same time decides to promote the CEOs buddies to new levels. Apparently there is a need to have sites with a Vice-President 2, a Vice-President 1, AVP, Director, Assistant Directors and supervisors. What these people do all day is a mystery. I imagine they spend their day telling each other how...

I worked at Hathaway-Sycamores Child and Family Services full-time

    Pros

The best thing about working at Hathaway is definitely the people. I worked at the corporate office in Pasadena and loved it. All of my coworkers were fun and friendly.

    Cons

Some of the downsides are lack of communication between the execs and the line staff.

    Advice to Management

Be more communicative with the staff at all of the various sites. Go around and visit the sites more and give staff an update on how the company is doing.
