I have been working at HauteLook full-time

    Pros

Great for entry level people fresh out of college looking to gain experience shooting catalog.

    Cons

Poor management, overt favoritism, no long term career opportunities. Compensation is at the bottom of industry standards.

    Advice to Management

Lead by example, promote those who work hard and have talent, not those who brown nose and buy gifts for their managers.

I have been working at HauteLook (More than a year)

    Pros

Cool Environment and you can work from home or in office. The office is awesome.

    Cons

Obvious favoritism, changes are talked about but take way too long to be implemented (if ever).

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to your Cust Service Reps NEEDS. If they have been a great agent, listen to them if something in their home life has changed. Help them be better, don't shame them for having changes from when they first joined. Act like they matter.

I have been working at HauteLook full-time

    Pros

Your experience here may vary from department to department. However, in my experience, this has been the best company I've worked for.

    - 20% discount for everyone. Managers get 33%. You have the options to pay with cash, gift card, or Nordstrom debit/credit card. If paying with cash or gift card, they will need to verify your employee id number.
    - Free bagels every Monday and fun office events now and then
    - 401k, profit sharing, health and dependent care savings accounts, 100% paid maternity leave, good health benefits, bonus for qualified employees, paid holidays, employee stock purchase program, charitable donation match
    - Growth and advancement opportunities. Employees have opportunities to transfer between departments.
    - Close to metro station, great restaurants all around, new building, paid parking

    Cons

No company is perfect, but they make an effort to hear what the employees have to say (through surveys) and implement changes.

    - Less holidays than other companies. We get 7 paid holidays. If you want to take Christmas Eve or New Years Eve off, you have to use your PTO.
    - Parking structure is not ideal. Driving through the spiral of the parking structure is the worse! Prepare for the dizziness. However, if you have valid health reasons, the company will make accommodations for you.

    Advice to Management

There are some managers that should take leadership training. It may be beneficial to have anonymous surveys given to their teams so that managers are aware of what they need improvement on. Some employees feel like they don't have a voice when it comes to gripes about their supervisor, so they leave the company or wreak havoc until they're let go.

    Pros

Everyone is nice and friendly and it's a safe work environment.

    Cons

Little help from anyone internally higher up to help advance career or even promote. No room to grow. All upper management is spread too thin to support their staff. No Nordstrom perks unless you get a Nordstrom credit card.
