I worked at Hawaii Pacific Health full-time

    Pros

doctors were friendly, the people were friendly, the pay was okay, some staff were easy to get along with, it was always busy

    Cons

management always gossiped about employees to other employees, manager would send emails belittling employees, the morning crew was always favored over the night crew, ipads & phones were allowed to be used at work which meant not giving the appropriate care to patients.

    Advice to Management

change the manager. she gossiped too much, she brought her marital problems to work and she would belittle employees instead of teach them. which is why a lot of them quit.

I have been working at Hawaii Pacific Health full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good benefits with regards to PTO accruement, retirement and pension plans. They support education opportunities and advancement. HPH affords state-of-the-art equipment which ultimately supports patient care.

    Cons

Can’t really think of a “negative” to write here. Of course not all days are sunshine and roses, but for the most part I remain grateful for my job and fellow staff.

    Advice to Management

I wish there was an HR counselor on Kauai to assist with ESL/FMLA, etc. It’s sometimes difficult navigating through forms on your own.

I have been working at Hawaii Pacific Health full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Wonderful people... extremely dedicated and hard working. Developing culture of safety. Pension & retirement plan.

    Cons

Not many. IT issues ie...phones, pagers. EMR clunky. Lots of travelers. I've experienced bullying behaviors...

    Advice to Management

Culture of safety must reach from front line to the C suite. That's the only thing holding me back from giving this company 10/10.

    Cons

Another company that wants high profits while trying to keep operating costs low by sacrificing service excellence numbers and keeping morale minimum.

I have been working at Hawaii Pacific Health part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Competitive pay (as with most large hospitals).

    Cons

Witnessed bullying of nurses, blatant favoritism, & questionable practices of the supervisors/managers throughout the entire time working here. When considering leaving the job, management actually threatened to blacklist me from other jobs should I try to apply to different units/hospitals & began making false accusations about my workplace ethic. I had heard about this but never experienced it myself until then. Absolutely left a terrible taste in my mouth & traumatized from this hospital. Would not recommend working there unless you are one of the lucky "favorites" in the unit--in which you can get away with anything & will get promoted continually while others will not. Cannot say that this will be your experience, but I do think certain units vary based on management/supervision.
Also, may be rather difficult to move up in organization professionally as I have observed--apparently a lot of RN graduates wait for years after their graduation/licensure to actually be promoted to RN jobs. Good luck.

    Advice to Management

Be considerate of your dedicated workers who may not be physicians or surgeons, but who work hard & are passionate about their jobs & look out personally for favoritism & abuse of power in management/supervisory roles.
