I worked at Hawaii Pacific University

    Pros

Everyone is friendly. Everyone seems to really care about everyone.

    Cons

Fort street Mall was the downtown campus. Homeless and drug addicts everywhere on fort street mall. I was nearly attacked one evening as I was caught in the crossfire between two homeless people fighting. I felt sorry for the homeless, but I also felt unsafe. Sad for them and sad for me.

I have been working at Hawaii Pacific University

    Pros

Great students, supportive colleagues, mostly nice facilities/offices

    Cons

Extremely low pay ($2350/3 credit course) creates high turnover in adjuncts, downtown parking is the bane of everyone's existence and the university does not have any designated lots or offer validation for employees.

I have been working at Hawaii Pacific University full-time for less than a year

    Pros

New management and a very genuine new school president! I enjoy working with new faces and fresh ideas everyday. The schools is heading in the right direction.

    Cons

Staffing and parking seem to be an issue with both new and old employees. Yet, this seem to be a downtown Honolulu issue too.

I worked at Hawaii Pacific University full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

HPU recently purchased the Aloha Tower Marketplace, which will have student housing on the top floor, with retail and restaurants on the ground floor. University has not added student and staff amenities in other locations.

    Cons

Main campus is downtown, with limited parking. Suburban campus near Kailua and Kaneohe needs massive renovations.
