I have been working at Hawaii USA FCU full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Generally nice staff, but tensions between departments

    Cons

So many people have come and gone so quickly that there are no set processes or organization system, so there is a lot of chaos and mistakes made. Unacceptable when dealing with people's money

    Advice to Management

Take the time to hire solid quality people who know how to do their jobs, then do everything you can to keep them. Don't let HR's insane benefits restrictions keep you from keeping talent at the company.

I worked at Hawaii USA FCU full-time

    Pros

They give a lot of paid training and room for advancement

    Cons

doing the same transactions over and over again can get boring

    Advice to Management

I wish they had a more flexible schedule for part time like a 3 day schedule or more room to customize it

I worked at Hawaii USA FCU full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Not very busy meaning not too stressful. Health insurance rates are good and they offer some other benefits. Pay is low to average.

    Cons

Again, the environment is very slow paced. There isn't much to do on a day to day basis. Management is indecisive and rely on others for answers. Seems like as long as you work here for a long time you can move to any role which means the talent here isn't very great.

I worked at Hawaii USA FCU full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

100% covered dental, medical and vision. Not too many companies offer this, this will save you a lot of money if you have a family to support because other places will deduct hundreds of dollars just to cover your family but the company will charge you only an additional $50 a month to add a dependent to their health bundle but yours will be covered entirely.

    Cons

Main Branch Management, a lot of bullying and lack of maturity. Very high school and they won't treat you like an adult, they will treat you as if they were over controlling parents who needs to know everything about your personal life. No respect for boundaries and will use intimidation and bullying if you do not submit. The hours of work is not very flexible, day offs are always switched, lunch breaks as well, only 45 minutes and they can run as early as 10:30am or late as 2:30pm depending on your turn for the week. The workload can be heavy since the credit union has not progressed to up to date technology like the banks to shift away from manual work.

    Advice to Management

My ratings would be a lot lower but it would be unfair to rate the company as a whole based on my bad experience at one department. I worked at the Main Branch and did not have a very good experience. The corporate culture at the main branch has a hazing feel to it and the support is not so strong. I felt they expected loyalty and would go through the means by force in my opinion "loyalty is not a given, it is earned" I was able to tolerate the brutality for a year because I wanted to find a better job that fit me, my patience paid off and I am having the time of my life at my new career. The turnover is high which is something main branch management has a hard time owning up to. My advice or words of wisdom "People don't leave companies or jobs, they leave managers." The high turnover speaks for itself but again I can't speak for the whole company this is just my experience working at their main branch.

I have been working at Hawaii USA FCU full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

HawaiiUSA is awarded as a Best Places to Work in Hawaii and a 2013 Healthiest Employers. Co-workers are great to work with!

    Cons

As a non-profit company, HawaiiUSA may not pay the highest, however, the benefits package is great.

    Advice to Management

Continue to spend time with people in different levels and areas to be aware of what is important.
