    I have been working at Hawaiian Telcom full-time for more than 10 years


    Family friendly with lots of flexible hours. Management pretty much leaves you alone if you do your work and keep out of trouble. If you are a self-motivated worker with self directed drives and objectives, this company is for you. If you require lots of training and direction, this company is not for you.


    There is no money to improve existing technology and facilities. We are using technology that can be found in historical museums. Some toilet facilities at HQ hasn't been fixed for over 6-months since there is no money to repair them. When asked when basic facilities will be fixed, there is no straight definite answer.     Advice to Management

    Listen to the front line people instead of direct reports. The direct reports can give a really different story than the people working the front lines. Keep up the employee surveys since that will give a better picture on how to improve the company in the long run.

    team more experienced than management, warning manager of potential issues just makes him mad, he likes the shine of fixing a big problem after a lot extra work and stress than preventive actions that would avoid the stress situations and downtime.
