    Pros

Company has high and lofty goals and is meeting them aggressively and quickly. Great company to work for right now if you are a web editor. Exciting time to be in this business with Haymarket launching new websites almost monthly.

    Cons

Not many cons to report. Office is expanding so many need to work from home right now until we get a larger space, making work a bit harder to get done.

    Pros

The senior executives at Haymarket Media aim to be a digital-first, multi-platform publishing company that is a leader in its chosen markets. They are actively making changes to support that.

    Cons

Several groups within the company are understaffed, which sometimes translates to slowdowns for important projects.

    Pros

Great company! Enjoyed working within the company lots of growth potential. If you work hard it's easy to climb up into various roles w more responsibility.

    Cons

Nothing really bad to say about the company. Not always a lot of room for growth for a mid career sales executive

    Advice to Management

Focus more on mid career roles and needs; pay attention to what's happening in the market - be open to new ideas and communication. More transparency.

    Pros

There are some pros to working here. The company has niche magazines and digital properties that have loyal followings. Good journalism. Stable London-based company with virtually no layoffs. Summer Fridays, breakfast cafes every other Friday, and good location. Coworkers (mostly) are genuinely nice and easy going. You'll learn an amazing amount; great foundation to move to other jobs.

    Cons

Salaries are well below market value. Health benefits are expensive. 401K does not contribute until second year, and then only 25% vested. Baby Boomer management is outdated but desperately looking to be more modern in their approach to sales and editorial. Confused about how to do this but are dismissive of younger employees.

No work life balance. You will do the work of at least three people.

EICs are often belittling and more concerned about parties, meals, and trips than producing a good product.

Turnover is horribly high; about one to four people leave a month. (Recently, about four people left one magazine title all at once, in sales and editorial.) Few people make the two-year mark.

The cultural is stingy and cheap. Most editors and many sales staff are required to travel around the country every month but are not given company credit cards.

No work from days. Although, managers frequently say they will work from home while the staff is in the office.

    Advice to Management

Pay market rate; work to retain the young talent that you have. Improve and add benefits. Hire management that is concerned about the products and magazines, not personal gain. Provide work from home days or flex hours.

    Pros

Collegial work environment -- Easy to communicate and collaborate with people at all levels of the organization.
Financially sound -- Company is doing well and is effectively making the transition from dependence on print revenue to a more balanced model where print is still important but smaller than digital and events.
Caring Leaders -- Leadership team that really seems to want to do the right things for the employee population.
Investing in the future -- Company is investing in new systems to improve performance.
Location -- Chelsea neighborhood is a great place to be.
Benefits -- Good and getting better.

    Cons

Office space is getting somewhat cramped due to significant increase in the employe population over the past year.

    Advice to Management

Keep your eye on the prize. Continue to treat employees well. Don't be distracted by naysayers.

    Pros

First off, it would be good to understand that Haymarket is global company with many offices. I currently work in one of the US offices. I'm surprised by some of the negative reviews. I have been treated like family here. Yes, the starting pay is low but through hard work, dedication, and protectiveness one can easily climb the ladder here.

No other publishing company of this size will allow you to connect with upper management and executives the same way Haymarket US does. Its an open door policy and any suggestion that will improve business processes is greatly encouraged and often rewarded.

    Pros:

Summer Friday's (few hours off on Friday)
    Bi-weekly breakfast (free)
    Easy access to CEO/CFO
Competitive Holiday time-off (12 or more paid holidays NOT including vacation)

    Cons

    Low Pay (for entry-level/college grads)
Multiple floors make it difficult to connect with other departments
Space (due to growth) is becoming cramped up
Systems difficult to learn, and lackof

    Advice to Management

Get everyone (all departments) on one floor, encourage more out-of-office activities, such as family picnics or bowling night etc.
