Pros
Overall, I would rank Hays CISD as a good school district to work for.
Cons
Same cons teachers would have in any school district.

Pros
By far, the people are the best part about the Hays CISD organization. They are a community-oriented team and you will find you are supported in your efforts.
Cons
Quick growth lead to a top-heavy organization and some growing pains, especially in terms of management.

Pros
Hays CISD was a great place to start as a new teacher. The community feel of the district when I started was wonderful, and I loved being assigned a mentor to help me through my first year as a teacher. I also loved both sets of administrators. They were both extremely helpful and insightful.
Cons
The pay scale in Hays CISD, although getting better, is still the lowest in the area. The district also tended to switch goals for learning before allowing teachers and students to have time to master the previous ones. I appreciate that they were trying to keep the community tight, but the district is growing at a rapid rate which makes this difficult.

Pros
There was no shortage of jobs as a substitute teacher in Hays CISD. I got up and ready every morning, because I knew I would get a job, even if the call came that morning. The website was very user friendly, and it was easy to mark days as available or unavailable.
Cons
There could have been an easier process for figuring out who to contact if you have conflicts.
- Current Employee★★★★★
Pros
The support at Hays CISD has been great.
Cons
District testing is extensive for teachers and students.
