I have been working at Hays (Less than a year)

    Pros

I recently attended an internal training course and I was very pleased with the quality of the content.

Because of their previous hands-on experience, all trainers had great understanding about our current challenges and difficulties, therefore not only it was quality content, it was relevant too.

As a whole, the training was very engaging and realistic towards implementing what we learnt in our daily workflows.

    Cons

I would have liked to see a higher degree of tailored content towards the different modalities and specialisms at Hays as that would've only improved the quality of the course.

    Advice to Management

I would recommend to include activities and/or seminars that focus on specialism-specific content.

I have been working at Hays full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Can't think of any significant pros - Maybe a god central London office

    Cons

The worst commission scheme in the industry

They a management team with an average age of 22 years old - Who are all clueless and forced to take senior roles on that are way beyond them.

    Useless career prospects

No chance of earning superb money - No matter how great you are

    Advice to Management

    Get with the times

Offer basic salaries in line with the industry

Offer a commission scheme in line with the industry

Stop employing grads and start to hire experienced people

Seriously look at the management you have - Especially in areas outside of London - The regional offices don't seem to have a clue

I have been working at Hays full-time

    Pros

In depth training given to properly arm new starters like myself with the tools needed to carry out the role successfully. Lots of emphasis on learning from your own experiences with encouragement towards trying things and making mistakes to be able to learn from them.

    Cons

Not for people who are afraid to work hard. Your hard work will pay off though and you will also receive recognition for it

I worked at Hays full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The training for associates is fantastic and throughout your career you have exposure to high profile clients. Great place to start your career in recruitment, with some amazing consultants around you. Honest and transparent recruitment methods, offering a great service to both clients and candidates.

    Cons

Lost the work hard, play hard element - it's now just work hard - needs to be a more uniformed approach to incentives and reward as some regions get nothing. Base salary + commission structure not competitive compared to competitors.
You need to be one of the biggest billers to even get a hello from senior managers.
A lot of pressure to post positive reviews on here, which I don't think is honest or the right approach. Happy people will post without being prompted / incentivised with vouchers.

    Advice to Management

You have some amazing people in your business and a lot of them are not happy - look at your approach regarding incentivising sales teams and ensure all regions are receiving some form of reward and recognition.

Some people managers do not have basic management skills and should not be in the position they are - you need motivating and positive people managers in a sales environment.

Salaries haven't changed in at least 4 years - a review is needed - your competitors are turning heads of loyal employees!
