I worked at Hays plc full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good training. Good commission plan. A lot of nice employees in Canada.

    Cons

In North America, managers have zero decision making power. The President's yearly messages contradict each other and he has no loyalty to his staff. Turnover is high because of this. Back office rule with an Iron fist and actually hamper sales.

    Advice to Management

Reward people who have performed well for you for several years rather than discarding them to focus on new starters. Live up to what you have promised your staff. Don't lie to people. Treat people with respect. I'm at a recruiting agency now that does this, and it's awesome!

    Pros

Large company with a large office network and some nice people

    Cons

Managed too much like a dictatorship
Riding the wave of internal politics is at the top of most leaders priority list
    Little opportunity to innovate
    Atmosphere is not fun

    Advice to Management

Really listen to your staff. Let the experts do their job.
Give people the opportunity to grow and innovate.
Don't rule with a iron fist.

I worked at Hays plc full-time

    Pros

Free milk provided for hot drinks
New Malden has interesting independent shops and cafes
    Waitrose nearby

    Cons

    Little team spirit in evidence
    Cack handed, pompous senior management
System is over complex and constantly amended with add ons
Tatty, filthy offices untouched since the 80s
45 minutes for lunch - leaves no time to go to bank, post office etc.
    Over regimented environment
    Too many junior/middle managers

    Advice to Management

The office badly needs refurbishment and a steam clean.
Why senior management would be pompous and self-important about their roles at a money grubbing job agency is beyond me.

I worked at Hays plc full-time

    Pros

As they have been a long time in locations, they have a lot of candidates on their database

    Cons

As a company they value whether you fit their cliché mould over whether you are good at your job. Horribly two-faced team, awful uninterested management. Most workers are not proactive and sit around waiting for business; awful for a sales company. Top down 'one methodology suits all' approach, no chance to learn, management do not inspire or lead by example. Any creativity is crushed until you lose motivation. Hays are basically building a team of clones that are tasked with filling the database with info, which will probably be the first 'technical' recruitment service that means they no longer have to pay commission. Terrible firm that is disliked by most that work there and a huge amount of clients in the market

    Advice to Management

Where to start? Listen to staff, reward success (more than a £20 bottle of wine), try to motivate people well, remove the poisonous individuals, keep people that are good. Walk around your office and ask yourself, who realistically would a young person aspire to be? Because when I left the answer was no one.

I worked at Hays plc full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    This Company provides:

    (1) One time Meal
    (2) Both Side Cabs

    Cons

They have worst parameters to judge the performance of employees, they treat employees like slaves. if any employee can not do the flattery of the management that employee is targeted here and no award and reward are given to him, if you have the ability to do the ''Yes Sir, No Sir'' all the time then its a good company for you and you will be awarded a lot here.

In this company, Parameters are different for IT and Operation People. IT and Finance People have more Leverage than Operation People.

    Advice to Management

They should leave the Dictator behaviour and should behave like a normal human. they should judge the ability of a person without partiality.

    Cons

    Cons

Expected to work over contracted hours
    No work life balance
    Basic wage

    Advice to Management

People bullying or gossiping about other employees isn't acceptable seen it a fare few times in my office ! Check that your staff are actually ok instead of joining in with the bullying ! Discrimination against candidates also isn't acceptable and considering your such a big company was surprised to be told that I 'shouldn't bother to interview' a disabled candidate as it was 'waste of my time' by a manager. Also I'd like to add if your going to start some one at a new company sit them next to some one positive instead of a patronising negative colleague (who I was told by 3 other colleagues from other offices that the way she spoke to me was discusting and I needed to tell my manager ... which I tried to but got told I was under pressure). This place is full of cliques and has the atomsophere of being in high school with all the gossiping that goes on, wouldn't recommend to anyone , good for progression but bad at listening keeping employees happy.
