Environment of growth and support. Cultural sensitivity and tolerance are fostered. This is a great place to work!

Government assistance allocation makes for difficult decisions when funds have been cut and some people lose their job and children are cut from the program as well.

Pros
The children and families are amazing! Co-workers have become life long friends.
Cons
The way they treat staff is unacceptable. I was treated with vast disrespect by a supervisor. I complained, but was retaliated against.

An Unpleasant Working Environment
Feb 26, 2015 - in Springfield, ORRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Accommodating if you have an appointment during working hours. Good benefits after the probationary period. No overtime so you don't miss spending time with your family.
Cons
Very unprofessional training. It consisted of the person who was turning over the position just telling me whatever popped into their head. They were very impatient, and sometimes quite rude, when I asked questions. There were several higher-ups whose demands often conflicted with each other. One would tell me to delay a task while another would scold me for not completing it. Another one would tell me things were fine and then go behind my back and complain to the person who was my direct supervisor. I would ask for clarification on certain procedures and would receive none, then got reprimanded for not completing them properly. The overall environment was unwelcoming, unappreciative, and "cliquish".

Low Pay- Lots of Time Off
Feb 22, 2019 - Driver in Springfield, ORRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Holidays, weekends and summers off. Good for retired folks and those who have been out of the workforce for awhile (i.e. single moms).
Cons
Pay too low, worse than comparable jobs in private industry.

Pros
The children and families that are being served.
Cons
Everything from wages to the archaic review system that's being used. If your hope is to advance your career you'll need to be sure the Executive Director likes you... nothing else you've done will matter!
