    Pros

    Flat organization structure so individuals have better visibility than those in large companies
    Data driven R&D style to keep office politics low and technology iterations fast
    Smart colleagues to work with
    Generous bonus package when the years are good
    Best in industry medical insurance

    Cons

    The HDD industry is going downhill due to SSD competition and shrinking PC market
    Its "technology leader" business model is in peril because of HDD tech advancement slowdown
    Revenue highly dependent on Toshiba which may ax its HDD business any time

    Advice to Management

    Now may be the time to think about the alternatives regarding the business model

    Pros

    Small but very Fast paced company, ever changing technology although HDD industry seems saturated or "OLD". Thanks to cloud storage.
    Work Life Balance is "Normal" considering the culture in the valley.
    Bonus package is very good even tough the pay is lower than Industry Average.

    Cons

    Poor People management. Hardworking people are always working hard with little recognition or no appreciation.
    Office politics is in inevitable in any company so that shouldnt be a surprise.
    Sometimes work can be monotonous and there are very limited opportunities to grow or change responsibilities

    Advice to Management

    Recognize individual contributors efforts and hard work which enables in achieving results and realize Production Targets.

    I worked at Headway Technologies full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Insurance benefits were pretty good for exempt employees

    Cons

    Before joining the group, I had thought that it was normal that bad managers might exist in a company more or less. However, I hadn't expected that a manager could be so horrible as mine, who's totally a drama person making up a lot of fake scenerios/stories to attack anyone she/he disliked. Below are some summaries. They may not be complete, but I just wanted to offer some ideas how terrible this "particular" manager was:
     -Nano-management. i.e., she/he checked instantly what time you went to the restroom, and what time you returned to the lab.
     -Darked-hearted. Her/his weird brain often converted friendly comments/suggestions to bad ones. Eventually, those working with her/him tended to remain silent in front of her/him, as speaking with her/him finally became a torture to everyone.
     -Super un-professional, often hidden in her/his office to play games. Bad-mouthed, even interfered group members' personal life. i.e. she/he disliked the way a group member spent his own money, then she/he would tried to find faults with this group member. What the hell? What on earth did someone else' money have anything to do with her/him?
     -A liar, true liar! Enjoyed faking all kinds of stories to attack anyone she/he disliked. Everyone in the group, of course except for herself/himself, even people outside the group, had been framed by her/him multiple times.
    ............
    A truly ugly ugly person. You might wonder if I talked to HR about the manager's misconducts. Unfortunately, HR was useless.......

    However, if you have decided to join Headway, I do wish you best luck that your manager won't the same one as mine at Headway.

    I worked at Headway Technologies full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    High bonus, although less than before;
    Company gym available;
    Less likely to work on weekends;
    Not much challenge and pressure from the work itself.

    Cons

    Sunset industry,
    Long work hours,
    Tedious, meaningless, repeating work,
    Against creativity,
    No chance of growth and career advancement,
    You need to have a tough heart and to be smart enough to flatter some bad-tempered, mean, picky, and impatient manager.

    Advice to Management

    Please show respects to your employees
