    Cons

The company seems as if they have bit off more than they can chew. They want to continue growing but have not solved issues that members have with the membership already present. Management only follows what upper management has to say and do not seem to have a clue as to what they are doing.

I have been working at Health Alliance Plan of Michigan full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

When I joined HAP, I didn't know what to expect. I was coming into health care from a different industry, and it was a whole new world, but from day one I was welcomed into the HAP family. It made the whole transition that much easier.

I was looking for a place to learn, grow and expand my skills, and I've found it here. From the start, I was involved in large initiatives and felt like I had a seat at the table in discussions with my peers and leaders. Nearly everyone is open to new ideas and trying new things, which is crucial in an industry where the landscape is constantly shifting. I've also been able to expand my skill set in areas that I may not have been able to if I stayed where I was.

I think the biggest thing here is the sense of community -- both inside the company and outside. A lot of companies I've worked at talk about how involved they are in the community, but HAP walks the walk.

    Cons

Some things can be slow going because of all the red tape, but it's part of being in the health care industry.

    Advice to Management

Continue to put employees first and continue to offer opportunities for growth, development, and leadership.

    Pros

There are not many pro's to working at HAP

    Cons

Leadership has no strategic vision and the senior leaders do not get along at all. They do not value employees and treat them very poorly.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees, especially the good one's like a valuable resource not a commodity.
