    Pros

Company has been around for over 50 years which does show stability. Being owned by Henry Ford is a plus in this unstable industry though.

    Cons

Until recently they have been absent a CEO for a long period of time which creates a challenge for a focused direction.

    Advice to Management

Make sure everyone understands the vision and is moving in lock step.

I have been working at Health Alliance Plan of Michigan as a contractor

    Pros

I enjoyed the work I did and I really like the people I worked with. It is a good company to work for.

    Cons

My manager was a micro manager which made it hard to get things done. My manager was not interested in new ideas to help make our job easier.

    Advice to Management

Try to be open to new ideas on making things better. Don't get comfortable with old ways of doing business.

I have been working at Health Alliance Plan of Michigan (More than a year)

    Pros

Friendly people. Easy to get along with coworkers. Dedicated to customer experience.

    Cons

Slow to recognize and promote talent. Slow to restructure and adapt to every changing healthcare landscape. Severely understaffed. Not the most competitive salaries. Would be better off separate from parent company Henry Ford Health System.

    Advice to Management

Promote, pay, and retain talent. Work for long term gain, not short term survival.

I have been working at Health Alliance Plan of Michigan full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

close to home, work environment, people are friendly

    Cons

if you work from home, you hear that it's a threatened privilege and it can only be done one or two days a week; no merit raises; no chance of advancement; little or no challenge and training

    Advice to Management

choose middle managers so they motivate employees. Morale is pretty low lately with recent changes and take-aways. It's no wonder the quality scores and service awards are drying up.
