I worked at Health Net full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Helpful teammates, good benefits, big parking lots, lots of team party, fun atmosphere, the pay is decent, lots of overtime as well.

    Cons

If you go on leave, it's very complicated to get back to work, they never teach you the process to get back in, which requires approval from the leave management department that will take forever to get it approved, I got the run around every time. Also no security guards outside after dark so it's kinda scary walking to your car alone especially if you park far away.

I worked at Health Net (More than a year)

    Pros

The people they hire are personable with a great sense of community. Most of the supervisors work with the employees to make the (team) company more productive.

    Cons

They have too much leeway in allowing employees to be separate from the work. Employees wander around the floor and achieve a negative impact on the daily production. They seem to lack a focus of the company goal. To create an atmosphere that both raises the company market share as well as the public view of the company. Thus increasing the ability of the company to capture a greater market share!

    Advice to Management

I would say to include your staff in some of the daily numbers; let them see the impact on their bottom line. If they don't make a specific goal; if there is a fine that takes from their ability to achieve a larger raise?

I worked at Health Net full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The pay was the best, they are competitive. I was there for 7 years. They also have weekends and holidays off most of the times.

    Cons

Play favorites, a lot of brown noses. and its do as I say and not as I do.

    Advice to Management

Its sad because they already know who will be Management, just go through the steps of interviewing employees, raising there hopes. Its a joke. How hard they work or put time in, does not matter. And the person already knows there getting the position, so of course its all over the office . Very unprofessional.

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

People are great -- supportive, friendly. They pay pretty well to get you in the door

    Cons

They tease you with the promise of managment incentive bonuses, but two out of the last six years have paid nothing. Even though my performance is always rated Excellent, I've never received the % bonus for my level. There's always some excuse -- the plan was underfunded, the money went to another business unit or the company didn't meet its goals. After awhile that rhetoric gets old.

    Advice to Management

May be time to jettison Gellert as CEO but somehow the board doesn't have the will to do it.

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

The benefits are great. The people are nice.

    Cons

There are some incompetent managers, and poor performance is tolerated. Nobody ever gets fired -- even if they don't come to work.

    Advice to Management

There are some hard workers at the company. Find a way to reward and recognize them. It seems that there is no difference whether an employee works 20 solid hours a week or 60 solid hours. Also, outsourcing the I.T. shop to save 25% is ridiculous when you can save the quality employees by cutting out 10 to 15% of the lowest performers and renegotiating some of the large contracts. The bottom 10 to 15% aren't providing much value anyway.
