I worked at Health Net full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

My department was very diverse and had a lot of females in leadership roles. If you're on the right team under the right manager, there is opportunity for growth if you work for it.

    Cons

Projects, particularly IT projects, are handled poorly. When I left, they were really pushing towards agile methodology but didn't have a firm understanding of how to effectively apply it. This resulted in projects getting implemented despite major defects and the contingency plan was almost always manual work.

I have been working at Health Net full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Competitive pay, growing industry, opportunities to transfer to countless different departments internally.

    Cons

Large corporation - you are literally just a number. Depending on department, can be very strict on a rigid schedule, with no room for empathy or compassion (even among exempt employees!). Company is organized into fiefdoms, with constant politics and in-fighting, unless you are lucky enough to be hired by a boss you end up liking. Plus, it's health insurance. LITERALLY the most boring thing I can think of. I prefer to watch grass grow or paint dry.

    Advice to Management

Treat employees like adults. Communicate. Allow flexibility for things like traffic accidents or sick kids. Consider more flexible schedules like working from home part of the time for exempt employees. It's 2017.

I worked at Health Net full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people working at Health Net are positive and enthusiastic - knowledge of health care and operating in the current environment

    Cons

The business changes constantly because of political interference.

    Advice to Management

Value the knowledge of the employees, Centene has negatively impacted the company culture.

I worked at Health Net full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Only pro is that they are a 24hr call center so you could select the Evening schedule and so other things during the day.

    Cons

Lots of work demanded from workers with not enough pay. I literally get paid more than a Lead at HN and I do way less work now at my new job.

    Advice to Management

Better support & resources for your reps.

I have been working at Health Net full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I've worked w/some really smart and wonderful people.

    Cons

Since being bought out by Centene the company is even worse to work for. You have soooo many "managers" that I'm still trying to figure out how they're so incompetent or still working there. Centene likes to pay you a little and work you to death.
