I worked at Health Services Advisory Group full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

HSAG has formed an incredible team of employees focused on making healthcare better. They chose their employees carefully and give them opportunities to contribute and are willing to take risks relying on their internal skill sets. I worked for more than one department and was always appreciated and given recognition for my contributions. I also saw many folks start out in lower positions and were promoted to higher...

    Cons

I've seen rare situations when someone became so good at a job, there was a reluctance to move them out of it when that person thought they were ready. They could do a better job of communicating milestones that will result in promotion consideration.

    Advice to Management

You have assembled a great team and an outstanding process. Don't start second-guessing your approach when things get rough.

I worked at Health Services Advisory Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Pay, PTO, holiday schedule, nice view from the breakroom

    Cons

Well considering half (or more) employees got laid off without any compassion, some people were lied to by the COO saying certain teams were safe and later got laid off with paperwork signed BEFORE the meeting with the COO, meaning he knew more people were getting laid off. They also strategically spaced out the lay offs so they would not have to give people 6 months notice, by law. This place is a mess, they come up...

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the old directors, let people know you're going to lay them off if you've known for a month (some people have families and children to provide for), let everyone work from home, not just some.

    Cons

Research the Analytics VP extensively before joining the team!

    Advice to Management

I worked at Health Services Advisory Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great Pay is the only pro.

    Cons

Benefits suck - you pay more than most companies for terrible coverage with high deductibles. Upper management is clueless - they are too busy planning trips and what they’re going to get on their next Tesla to put actual work into winning contracts. They care nothing about employees - they laid off half of the Tampa office without any compassion. Just sorry but your job has been eliminated, now gather your stuff...

    Advice to Management

Close the doors and call it a day. This is a company that doesn’t deserve to be saved. It needs to be closed.

I worked at Health Services Advisory Group full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Some lateral movement if you fight for it.

    Cons

Employees are expected to work excessively with no incentives, no cross-training to help other projects that have higher demands, some employees can get away with doing nothing.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. Unfortunately, HSAG is loosing a lot of great employees due to a hostile environment and lack of incentive.

I worked at Health Services Advisory Group full-time

    Pros

    - Compensation and benefits are at fair market value - Company invests in it's people via trainings and certifications. - People who work in the office are friendly. - The issues and contracts the company works on are interesting.

    Cons

    - No formal reviews of your performance so it is difficult to know how you are doing. On the other hand, people are fired frequently but there isn't a lot of transparency as to why they were fired or whether they saw it coming. Seems like it would be better to simply be straightforward about where people are excelling or under performing. - Company is very hierarchical in a way that I feel stifles innovation and doesn't...
