    I have been working at HealthPlan Services full-time

    Pros

    The company was a great place to work, but then it was purchased by Wipro - a company out of India....

    Cons

    Since the company was purchased by Wipro, they have laid off most of the staff. The jobs are being eliminated or moved to cheaper labor offshore.
    Also:
    Terrible documentation
    People horde knowledge to have job security (and unfortunately, it is a successful strategy at this company)

    Advice to Management

    Get rid of the culture of horsing information to gain job security, create documentation and have it be organized. Also, get an end to end software development application instead of 3 or 4 different systems with no traceability or accountability.

    Pros

    I've always been lucky to have good management. Fair and flexible to good employees. Work is interesting and varied. Good benefits.

    Cons

    The constant change of departments and job eliminations due to carriers ending their contract. Can be very stressful not know if your job will be around in a year.

    I have been working at HealthPlan Services full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    I've been fortunate during my tenure to have had leaders that allowed me to excel and grow during my tenure at HealthPlan Services. That growth, however, no longer exists.

    Cons

    Very poor data/process integrity. There's always a "fire" that needs to be put out. Extremely lean workforce with no contingency positions for vital roles in the organization. This leads to a very high-stress work environment, and causes many key people to burn out.

    Since HealthPlan Services was acquired by Wipro (Approx. February 2016), Wipro has influenced many organizational changes to shift more resources offshore (India) and created mass layoffs onshore (5-6 rounds of layoffs from October - March). Their primary objective is to continue offshoring resources. This has created a very unstable environment, and morale is at an all-time low.

    Opportunities for growth seem to have completely diminished.

    Advice to Management

    Fix the internal issues (Data/Process Integrity) before you venture out and attempt to expand the business. Multiple potential clients backed out during the initial on-boarding process when all of the issues "came to light."

    Value the key employees that are the lifeblood of the organization. Work to legitimately try to retain those who have been left. Otherwise, the talent that's still at HPS will leave due to the culture that's evolved over the last year.

    Good technological work
    A lot to learn
    People are helpful

    Cons

    Layoffs happening at the end of every year
    Anxiety among the employees
    No Job security

    Advice to Management

    Please think about employees first rather than own profits.
    Treat your employees better.
    Change the year end layoff process. Its worst.

    Pros

    The people you work with is the only reason to continue to work here. The PTO benefits are nice, but we will see how long it remains that way under the new ownership.

    Cons

    The place is complete chaos. Most of management is completely out of touch with reality. Most of the leadership only look out for themselves and don't care who they have to step on.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your employees and support them rather than your own pocket book.

    Incentive per month for exceptional customer service and meeting all other metrics you can earn up to an extra 400 dollars on top of check

    Cons

    Lay-Offs, I wasn't one of those ppl but it's kind of messed up how thy do it.

    Really I have none management was cool

    I have been working at HealthPlan Services as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Excellent training! HPS training is very thorough. By the time you hit the floor you are ready for whatever comes your way. Great PTO time off and benefits after 90 days. You have to be hired as full time, if you are very good at what you do.

    Cons

    Temporary employment. Three to four months at best.

    Advice to Management

    More huddles to keep employees abreast of ongoing changes. Too many errors made by other departments, which causes many problems for those receiving calls from angry customers.

    Um, coming up short on this section...

    Cons

    Low pay (literally not even enough for a single person to live off of), poor training, poorly functioning systems, unapproachable management, gossip, drama, lacking in diversity (85% of employees are black females), workplace itself is filthy and germ-infested, breaks are too short

    Advice to Management

    Find another job.

    Off shoring everything currently. Poor SDLC process. Major platform issues. Lack of controls.
