I worked at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Arlington as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

I enjoyed my time at HealthSouth Rehab as a graduate student externship. I was able to learn the ins and out of being an SLP in a rehab hospital without having significant stress nor excessive numbers on my caseload. I was able to participate in swallowing, cognitive, and language therapy and offer my insight for working with these patients.

    Cons

I can't think of any cons. I can not speak about the benefits/compensation as I was not an employee.

    Neutral Outlook

    Pros

Wonderful co workers, interesting patients. Wide variety of patient diagnosis to work with and learn from.

    Cons

Very poor administration presence. Most of the unit directors don't know much about patient care and think 11 or 12 patients at night is A OK. Great when the person in charge has 1.5 years of actual nursing experience and thinks she knows everything. Very many patients with dementia and increased fall risk. Not enough staff to keep a proper eye on them.

    Advice to Management

Have someone in those positions who has actual med-surg and rehab experiance

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Arlington part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good base pay. Good health benefits even for part-time. Friendly staff.

    Cons

No benefits as is the norm with PRN. Will try to low-ball on pay so go in with data to support your pay request.

    Advice to Management

Need to spend a day (or week!) in the life of a dietitian. We are just as important as all the other staff members.

    Advice to Management

Don't just count the number of patients take into consideration the acuity of them before cutting staff.

I have been working at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Arlington full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pay is decent for new nurses. They hire RNs out of school with little to no experience.

    Cons

The micromanaging is insane! Management says its all about supporting their staff, but they don't. You constantly feel overworked and under pressure. They are all about the almighty dollar!

    Advice to Management

Instead of constantly throwing employees under the bus, lets give a little support. Staff needs more training before being thrown to the wolves.

I worked at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Arlington full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible work schedule was a huge factor for me. I was able to start my day in the field if that was necessary or go into the office to gather information to improve the flow of my day.
My direct supervisor encouraged autonomy and personal growth. He was always available for questions, answers, advice and encourage.

    Cons

The only stress that was ever felt was meeting and exceeding the monthly admission numbers.
