I worked at HealthTrust full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great environment as will be challenged, internal opportunities to learn and career opportunities.

    Cons

Employees so busy keeping up with job demands, difficult to have a good work life balance. Executive management decisions often lead to department job changes or loss of jobs even if you have seniority. Pay is below average for many internal corporate jobs in comparison to what's offered in local job market.

    Advice to Management

Please start considering paying employees better base pay, better medical coverage as well higher 401K match.

    Advice to Management

Figure out if you're a GPO or a department of HCA.

    Advice to Management

I have been working at HealthTrust full-time

    Pros

HealthTrust is really trying to reinvest in its culture. It was lost because of rapid growth. The culture is driving changes in how we do business. There is tremendous growth opportunities within HCA.

    Cons

VP's are not engaged. Lack of leadership from VP to Director level. Benefits are really bad for an IT group (using hospital PTO plans). Promotion seems to only happen when you don't do your current job well.

    Advice to Management

Start using people's strengths to harness the growth.

I worked at HealthTrust (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It was rewarding completing the individual files, then presenting the information to managagement along with a white paper on the topic and a Power Point presentation.

    Cons

Management was nill.. The only time someone said something to you is if you happened to do something they didn't like

    Advice to Management

Be involved and follow the employees.

"Profits going up, culture going down"

    StarStarStarStarStar
    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee
    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

The company is going strong and experiencing positive growth. With several new large members, there have been a number of new jobs created.

    Cons

Too many new processes are being created that don't address root causes - just creates more work and wasted time without generating the needed results. Management does not demonstrate trust in employees and although will ask for feedback, does not take that feedback to heart and continues to make top-down decisions that do not reflect the feedback provided.

    Advice to Management

Conduct actual process improvement projects rather than sitting in a room and choosing what you 'think' is wrong and needs to be fixed. The job of a good manager is to clear the path for their reports to be able to succeed, so put your focus on what will actually make their jobs easier, not what you 'think' will make us 'look' better to our customers. Admit when you don't know something rather than covering up your knowledge gaps with posturing and needless projects. If you can't admit you don't know everything, you're not a leader.
