    Pros

    Family atmosphere. Great Benefits and plenty of opportunities to grow. Opportunities to work remote and various shifts.

    Cons

    The location of the new offices are a little far if you live in Nashville or surrounding areas. Traffic also will delay your commute if you work a regular 8-5 job.

    Advice to Management

    Continue the family atmosphere.

    Communication is lacking at times between management and employees

    Listen to your employees, they have great ideas and know what is really going on at the lower management levels.

    a lot of training in nursing home

    if you read healthcare systems rip off report I have seen it all happen very shady but have got to work

    learn to take care of employees show them you care and get better health care ins.

    Pros

    If you are just starting out in your career, HMS is usually willing to underpay and train staff in their unique methods.

    Cons

    Pay scales below the norm for Middle Tennessee. When Tom Stephenson (long-time employee and president) left the company several years ago, quality and communication began to break down and has yet to recover. The product no longer focuses on customer retention or patient safety; instead reacts based on the wishes of two large corporate clients. Used to be employee-owned with regular financial reports and long-term goal transparency, but times definitely changed.

    Many managers are promoted from within but never given the training or skills to be successful in a management role. Any experienced leaders hired from outside tend to leave the company within the first year - not a good sign. No company bonuses in several years, and many recent layoffs have their long-term employees scrambling for new opportunities.

    Laughable internal education and lack of any employee retention programs or career advancement make this a company to avoid.

    Advice to Management

    Figure out your identity (HMS, HealthTech, MedHost?!?) and rewrite your company vision statement and values. Then communicate to the employees, and HONOR THEM!

    Pros

    If you like to travel, the implementation and demonstration and sales areas are frequent fliers. Most of the employees are great folks to work with.

    Cons

    Poor knowledge transfer when someone leaves. Re-invent the wheel every time. No loyalty to long term, productive employees with excellent annual reviews. Management is disassociated with the front line employees and have no clue what they demand.

    Advice to Management

    Spend some money on an education department that has a clear mandate to transfer knowledge, keep track of trends and develop a real on-boarding process.

    Pros

    Management is constantly harassing employees, they dread coming each day to work
    afraid they will either be fired like all the rest or harassed, its called Micro Management lousy
    way to run a business.

    Cons

    Stressful job to management micro manageing every step you do even though you have been there for 10 plus years, it doesn't matter.

    Advice to Management

    Get a new CEO and managers who can relate to their employees and give them the knowlege
    you have their back and give them the reason to come to work within a good atmosphere, not fear of
    loosing their job each day.

    Pros

    Talented people, loyal customers, team-spirited culture. In an industry where there should be strong potential for growth.

    Cons

    Investors took over the company and derailed it. Decision-making has been murky, expenditures wildly inconsistent and unexplained, profits milked out while employee gains have been modest to non-existent. Major brain drain while strong talent has fled and gone elsewhere. Extremely weak current sales leadership will make recovering from this position very difficult; knowledgeable and talented sales execs have departed for greener pastures.

    Advice to Management

    Get a real CEO who knows the industry to right the ship. Companies like this cannot be managed part-time, remotely.

    Pros

    Friendly work environment that is vocal about quality, change for the better, and success.

    Cons

    Failure to launch syndrome with current managment who was hired by VC to show'em how it is done. Everything can't be solved witha spreadsheet.

    Advice to Management

    Read the book Good to Great and plug that into your spreadsheet.
