I worked at HeartFlow full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great company with an amazing purpose loaded with good intentions. A wonderful product to be a part of helping to succeed.

    Cons

Management seemed to struggle with corporate structure as they started to scale quickly. Typical for a startup environment however.

    Advice to Management

Hire an industrial Organizational Psychologist to help with any re-org as needed. Identify problem spots and work to correct them.

I have been working at HeartFlow full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Exciting company with a truly disruptive opportunity in Healthcare - An opportunity to bring advanced machine learning, computational fluid dynamics, cloud computing and software as a service to medicine in a big, impactful way. Extremely talented people and the company, while still a startup, is driving along a strong upward trajectory.

    Cons

A young company that is still transitioning from startup mode to a mature company, meaning that processes are still being optimized.

    Advice to Management

Be involved in detailed tactical execution with a product focus.

    Pros

HeartFlow as a company is an excellent company to work for. Many great benefits, they genuinely care about their employees. HeartFlow is very transparent with their people, keeping the people abreast to where the company is headed.

    Cons

HeartFlow is lacking communication and training on all lower levels (From VP down to the workers).

    Pros

The company mission to provide the world's first non-invasive product to detect coronary artery disease is honorable. The product will change the world if it's ever commercially viable and adopted by the medical community. It's what drives the employees to join and continue to stay with the company despite the many shortcomings. The base level employees are talented individuals and are an absolute pleasure to work with. The culture is very open and accepting and everyone is approachable even outside of work. As with all startups, there are opportunities to learn and wear multiple hats within the organization.

    Cons

The compensations are below average for the Bay Area and work/life balance is non-existent. The base salary and stocks/bonuses are 10-20% below comparable positions in the area and the benefits package is a joke. The organization is in a weird state where it's no longer a startup and not quite a proper company.

The main problem is upper and middle management that seem to almost outnumber the engineers working on the floor. It isn't uncommon to find 2 VPs and 3 directors leading a project that could have been executed by hiring a competent project manager. Office politics really do get old when you see the same core group being promoted while the rest of the team is slaving away with very limited resources. Asking for additional headcount is humiliating and frustrating. Instead of promoting an executive, that money could have gone towards hiring more developers.

    Advice to Management

The organization is very top heavy. We need to right this upside down pyramid and provide a more solid foundation in order for the company to be successful within the coming years. Terminate incompetent managers and bring in industry experts to drive real growth in each department. If we want to be a real company, it's time to act like one. The patients SHOULD come first and the $$$ will follow later.

    I worked at HeartFlow full-time

    Pros

Great people, tremendous product and lots of perks (food, gym, etc). Good communication from top.

    Cons

Compensation is not on par with industry standards. Otherwise, I can not think of other cons.

    Advice to Management

Continue with the current approach of frequent communication with the employees. Address the compensation issues so your good employees don't look elsewhere.

I have been working at HeartFlow full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The company received a lot of VC funds when I joined and the technology looked promising.

    Cons

The upper management is always really optimistic about the technology. However, the company does have a hard time to gain paying customers, whereas the current customers are mostly friends who are trying out as courtesy. The company is still burning VC money after 7 years. The product cannot be considered as commercially ready and robust. There are some negative rumors about the future of the company if the business cannot be covered by the insurance. I wish the company doing well but it is right now declining for the lack of positive cash flow.

    Advice to Management

Become more transparent and really focus on improving the product
