    Pros

    - free breakfast - after work drinks on Fridays and pizzas - occasional work events (quiz nights, cultural celebrations including food, company xmas dinner)

    Cons

(Worked in the collections department) - poor career opportunities - extremely poor managers, it is evident they need a lot of leadership/management training - managers have been known to criticize staff members loudly and openly on the floor - false promises made, they never follow up on what they say they will do - High staff turnover and very low morale - up to 50 staff members resigned within a span of 3 months since March 2021 - pay is considerably lower compared to other banks and they have poor rationale as to why - you could you work your behind off for an entire year and they would still find reasons to deny you a pay increase - - such a bad atmosphere made worse when other departments do not have the same issues - it's the managers way or the highway, literally! They do not value you and completely happy for you to resign. Their mentality is that they can hire someone else willing to do the job for less pay

It’s painfully apparent to most staff members that the senior leadership team are out of their depth.

    Pros

Free breakfast every day Genuinely nice colleagues at lower levels of the organisation

    Cons

Many people are overworked due to under-resourcing Lack of effective planning and management of key projects leaves people scrambling to meet unrealistic timeframes Frequent changes of direction cause waste and demotivate staff

    Pros

The team itself is very friendly Managers outside of collections are friendly

    Cons

The management in collections are very biased and bully their staff. No chance for pay rises or promotions if you aren’t friends with the managers.

    Pros

Free fruit Free drinks and pizza on Friday after 5pm Close location to the mall

    Cons

You can tell that management try to cover up a lot of the problems, but don't understand or fix the underlying issues that create unhappiness within Heartland. Management really need proper strategy and tactic. A lot of them are not leaders, just authoritative figures who want things done their way. Experienced a lot of micromanagement. If you're someone who can take every little thing nitpicked and done someone else's way without justification, Heartland is good place to work. No training or up-skilling externally. They force internal staff who have skills to train others, stretching the person's capacity. This has led to a lot of people being burnt out. Lots of hostility to people who voice their opinion (unless you're their "favourites"). Very little recognition and compensation for hard work and over time. Very little trust, discouraging people working from home. COVID response was very delayed. Despite most teams not having customer interaction, everyone was told to keep working as "essential workers". Employee morale is very low with a lot of dissatisfaction overall, because basic employee needs are not met. Heartland pays 20-30% less than other banks, if pay is your priority this is not the place to be. Very high employee turnover rate. No new people stay long, all the older employees are bound to Heartland.

    Pros

Breakfast spread Mall access No late work hours Some flexibility, depending on your direct line manager

    Cons

Lack of effective training, lack of career planning, performance meetings are not as engaging. KPIs set are not adjusted when changes are implemented, or adhoc duties are asked to be done Reactive rather than proactive culture Policies are vague, expectations are not clear Work burn out is the norm. Changes take time, especially when it comes to ineffective processes High performing staff are expected to train and develop other members, but not compensated and still expected to hit their KPIs regardless of the extra responsibility delegated to them.

    Not great

    Pros

Free breakfast, good access to the mall

    Cons

    1. Sloppy managers - (Not all of them but) you can't expect much from them. They do nothing but pushing you. 2. Lack of proper process -It's become a norm that I start developing things without enough support and resources ready. 3. the company keeps on losing good employees - There are some good folks with a great mindset and genuine passion for bringing changes in, but all of them I've known ended up leaving. This is the best indicator of what this company is like.
