I have been working at Heartland Dental full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very positive work culture. Good recruiting. Enthusiastic upper level management. Great at continuing education.

    Cons

I believe we pinch money in places where we should be giving back to our people. We're big enough to support a healthier benefit and pay structure.

    Advice to Management

Be more open positive and flexible to each office running individually and flexing their creative capabilities.

    Pros

    Great benefits. Current technology used.

    Cons

Middle management issues. Middle management often has no clinical experience and try to dictate without the knowledge.

I have been working at Heartland Dental full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits and work environment. Heartland believes in taking care of their employees.

    Cons

People are hired that have little or no experience, which in some cases can be a good thing but in some cases a bad thing and it makes everyone else's job difficult trying to pull that persons weight.

I have been working at Heartland Dental full-time

    Pros

-Free dental care for your immediate family (they'll still take the insurance benefits though)
-Lots of supporting offices around you (if you need extra hours, or if your office is closed)
-It's easy to get time off if needed

    Cons

-Absolutely NO communication between upper management and clinical staff
-Doctors will quit without a days notice, and you'll be expected to adjust to the new doctor immediately... or else you'll be thrown out like garbage
-A lot of cattiness and office politics. Everyone has a problem with everything.
-Lots of micromanagement from literally EVERYONE above you because they're pressured for numbers
-You must be able to manage your stress otherwise your home life and personal relationships WILL be affected
-Expect to stay on the phones calling patients to fill the schedule because half the time patient's don't even show up

    Advice to Management

Patient's are well aware of the corporate game that's going on. They notice the changes in doctors, staff... everything.
Communicate better with the little people because they are what keeps the practice going and patient's coming back.
Don't hire doctors just because they wear a white lab coat. Have them do a working interview for the love of god! You've got a dentist here starting work they can't finish just so they can get their money! Stop hiring greedy people.. Better yet, stop training people to be so greedy!

I worked at Heartland Dental full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good insurance, 401k (though they do not match), free dental

    Cons

I worked for Heartland for 4 1/2 years. I saw a lot of change, and this last change was just more than I could take. They were "restructuring" the entire company, which means eliminating positions, moving people around, etc. They did not handle this transition well at all. They left a large amount of people without any security and just telling them their position would be eliminated, but not when or what you would be doing after that position was gone. And then when they finally decided what to do with you (which you had NO say in) they told you that they wanted it to be a "win/win" for them and you. Even though they are putting you into a position you expressed to them you did NOT want. So there was no win/win, it was a win for them and that was it. There is no communication between levels of management, which leaves people scared and feeling vulnerable. And if you aren't best friends with people in upper management, you might as well just plan on never getting promoted. You can put the work in, take the classes and do very well in them. But if you aren't best friends with the right people, you will make it no where in this company.

    Advice to Management

Communicate. This company preaches that until they are blue in the face, but no one does it. And be honest. Stop talking behind peoples backs.
Promote people due to their skill level, not how good of friends they are with upper management. You lose A LOT of good employees because of this flaw.
