      Pros

They take care of their doctors. Docs have a lot of autonomy (as long as they produce well). Virtually unlimited CE available

      Cons

Difficult to get to “profit sharing” level so count on personal collections for compensation

      Pros

A good learning experience in office administration.

      Cons

Annual raises are minuscule (literally change). Potential for advancement is slow, expect to move around from location to location to be promoted. If you do not have a degree you will be passed up a few times for promotion guaranteed, regardless of your time with the company or adeptness (I witnessed this more than once). If the office is slow your hours will be repeatedly cut. Know what you are getting into before you commit your time here.

      Pros

      Cons

-Bureaucracy that can get annoying - % pay based on collections is lower than competitors and you won't start really earning your keep until you buy stock in HD

      Over worked

      Pros

Job security and quarterly bonuses are great. Continuing education, benefits and 401K provided.

      Cons

Hygienists are expected to complete duties that would normally be the responsibility of of the front office staff. New benchmarks are given at random and expected to be achieved on top of normal duties. Phone calls, insurance, treatment plans, scheduling, clearances, scanning paperwork all to be completed within the allotted appointment time. This takes away from the Hygienists ability to focus on oral & systemic health of our unique patients.

      Go to another company

      Pros

The continuing education was great. The benefits that came with the job such as vision insurance, medical insurance, and 401k was awesome.

      Cons

The cons of the company was that daily production had to be met, which was nearly impossible with all of the charges that had to be charged out. NUMBERS, NUMBERS, NUMBERS. The daily rate of pay versus what you were expected was rarely met. Therefore, there was always the threat of being wrote up. If you did not have a patient then you had to clock out or clock down to a lower paying position. The schedule was always jam packed and felt at times as if it was a dental mill being ran. Some of the young doctors right out of school thought they knew everything and would not listen to the established dental employees who had been in the field for many years. The management always forced the employees to sell dentistry. In my opinion, dentistry should be done conservatively and in the best interest of the patient... not the companies wallet. This is why there is so much turnover rate with this company.

      Great Starting Job

Feb 23, 2021 - Finance Coordinator in Everett, WA

      Pros

-Okay Pay -Okay Benefits (Medical & Vision) -Great Dental (100% coverage mostly) -

      Cons

Heartland Dental, at least in the PNW, likes to hire a lot of practice managers with no offices for them to "manage" - some of which with less than a year in dentistry. There salaries come out of all the affiliated offices until they are assigned an office - this means harder to bonus through no fault of your own office. They like to lure you in with the potential for bonus but let me tell you...you're lucky if you get $50 a quarter as a "bonus". Corporate policy is expect less than 4% raise per each year no matter how hard you work. Lots of training videos; death by powerpoint trainings. Management is consumed with focusing on the doctors meeting their goals; no regard for burn out of assistants, hygienists, or front desk team as long as doctors are happy who cares? I would suggest accepting a job here if you have literally no where else hiring
