I have been working at Heartland Payment Systems full-time

    Pros

If you're someone driven for success, then this is the perfect company to work for. You determine your own schedule and ultimately how much money you want to make. HPS provides incredible business solutions to merchants worldwide (strategically partnered with Global Payment Systems who recently acquired HPS). In addition, Heartland offers its employees the resources and support necessary to be an industry leader with an unprecedented retention rate for both its employees and its clients.

    Cons

Paying a lot in taxes because of the generous earning structure.

    Advice to Management

Continue to provide us with the same, undeniably wonderful support and we will continue to provide you with more and more happy clients.

I have been working at Heartland Payment Systems part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Heartland ECSI has a great company culture! The environment is fun and exciting and I look forward to going to work each day. All levels of management are extremely communicative and open to suggestions. The company has an open door policy and I feel like my input is respected and considered throughout the company.

    Cons

The pay is slightly less than I anticipated, but the relaxed culture and intrinsic rewards associated with my work are greater than they would be elsewhere, so that may play a part in the pay.

I have been working at Heartland Payment Systems full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You earn what you sell--making good money, and can see making great money down the road.

    Cons

Exactly what you might expect when no one invests in anyone (only earn what you sell)... nobody really cares how you are doing, they really don't pay attention to anything other than your sales numbers. They basically hope you make it, and if you don't, no skin off their back.

    Advice to Management

You guys could make SO MUCH MORE money if you'd invest in quality management. The area of the country I'm in... I could DOMINATE it with some investment and ability to pay people some salary. I know you feel like it is a "cultural" part of Heartland, but I promise you, you can have a highly leveraged sales team, that makes most of their money in commission and get the same culture but also get caring, great managers. I laugh all day long at the way I have to personally manage every aspect of the company from my territory. It is sad because it is only hurting you guys to use culture as an excuse to hire sub-par management and hire anyone-whos-breathing for sales.

I have been working at Heartland Payment Systems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good commission scale. Good territory options.

    Cons

Poor training. Poor management. Promote people into management too soon, sometimes 2 months after hiring and they have no clue what they are doing.

    Advice to Management

Learn the skills taught. Know something, other that how to ask for reports.

    Pros

Ability to be your own boss. Heartland takes entrepreneurism to a very HIGH level. You do not have a ceiling for the amount of income you can make. The Leaders are very helpful and value your success. They also cultivate a very good culture to work with Partners within the organization.

    Cons

They expect a lot at the beginning of your career, but it's because they want you to hit the ground running.

    Advice to Management
