I worked at Heartware full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Rewarding compensation structure; employees felt like they were sharing in the company's success. Very professional environment. Mature development processes and training ; the company really had their act together. Interesting work and top-notch colleagues.

    Cons

Long hours Good luck taking vacation when you want it The company was acquired by Medtronic and Engineering in Massachusetts is in the process of being dismantled; too bad, this was a great company.

    Advice to Management

Some individual contributors had disproportionate influence over management, when in reality they were not aware of the complexity of the product. This advice distorted management's expectations over the effort it would take to bring a product to market and ultimately, came to hunt the stock price.

I worked at Heartware full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Product is good , senior engineers in every team are competent and capable. Everyone wants to do their job and help others if needed. Freshers can find support and mentorship if needed. Leadership aspires to implement state of the art tools and practices, and wants to listen to everyone.

    Cons

After acquisition by Medtronic, things got ambiguous and productivity was affected adversely. As a result, talented employess including management in some functions, left the company and the rest of individuals were overburdened to fill in the shoes. Lack of clear assurance for future projects and random layoffs in some functions lead to some skepticism among ployees. Expect long hours and confusion about how to... get work done right way, especially if new here.

    Advice to Management

Please help with day to day problems.Lack of transparency on future projects and hiring will cause overworked employees fatigue and employees will resign. Also, a few bad apples need to be dealt with to allow teams to work without extra stress. You have a good vision and product, all the best!
