I worked at Heidelberg (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Excellent pay and benefits. Good management team that appreciates the contributions made by employees. Heidelberg provides security and makes job objectives clear.

    Cons

I can't think of any cons. All of the people I worked with were very happy, helpful and friendly. I attribute a great deal of this environment to upper management having a good attitude.

    Advice to Management

Continue to run the business as you have been doing for the last century. Continue to keep quality your number one priority.

    Pros

Challenging, open door policy, german, good salary, flat structure, friendly environment, qualified management, Leader of its segment, products of high quality, strong brand, traditional company.

    Cons

Bad market prospect, confusing management style, mature market, very dependent from the currency, informality of its clients, importing challenges, conflicting business decisions, emotional decision making.

I worked at Heidelberg full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

treat people fairly well. good working atmosphere. typical german company - you feel yourself like in a big family.

    Cons

out of date technology - due to finance crisis this hit the company badly, so the cost saving measure must be implemented, this hit the IT area seriously. without new technology, a lot of things we can not do.

    Advice to Management

the management should think more on the effect of adapting new, latest advanced technology to improve the revenue. the younger managers should be promoted, new idea should be encouraged.

    Pros

Large companies have large staffs - which means one has the ability to focus on one's primary job. Great brand recognition and customers are almost always willing to talk to you.

    Cons

Serious management mis-steps during the last 00s. Cut staff too late and cut the wrong folks. (I know - union rules - but still). Past success led to hubris and we all know what happens next - Nemesis. Seniority is great! If you have it. But it is not great for the company. Staff get reassigned to jobs they hate because the company had to fire the young person who once held that job.

    Advice to Management

Management is finally getting its act together - cutting swathes of non-productive divisions. Get R&D to visit customers - not just concept customers but customers in far away places where majority of sales are made now.
